So mine went bad, the dealership quoted between $1500 and $2000 to fix it and said the dash had to come off. I did the job in under 30 minutes on my 2013.

1 Pry off the vent bezel that runs above the glove compartment, If you look in and to the right of the radio you will be able to see the red plug for the actuator.
2. Disconnect the battery
3. Lift the tab at the top of the glove compartment and let it swing down the whole way
4. Reach up and find the yellow plug and disconnect
5. you now need to unbolt the passenger airbag. There should be 3 10mm bolts that hold it in. Then reach up behind the glovebox and you can literally pop the passenger airbag out and remove it.
5. and voila! the actuator is right there 2 5.5 mm screws and one plug and it's out
6. Replace pop in the airbag, reconnect the plug and then close the glove box and replace the trim reconnect the battery, and recalibrate the actuators

Stay away from Herb Connelly Chevrolet over $300 to diagnose and they fixed nothing. I am so angry that they quoted this much to do a simple job. I hope this helps somebody in the future.

Thanks for posting the DIY fix steps I'm sure they will be helpful!

wonder if this will work on the 08 aswell, gonna need to check and get mine replaced

I suspect this is the way the tech would work the job, but they'd still bill for the full dash removal... Thank you for the tip!
