I am replacing the positive cable on my 04 avy 1500. I noticed corrosion around the T fitting and the truck has always given me strange electric behavior. Changing the negative cable and cleaning the grounds helped a lot, hopefully this cable is my other problem.

anyway, how does the plastic bracket under the front of the motor come off? I got the 10mm bolt off the driver side, but the passenger side is on tight and I can’t find how it’s retained.

also any tips to removing the cable from the starter are appreciated. It looks like I can get it through the passenger wheel well.

TIA!

So the plastic bracket slides out toward the driver side. There is a small post on the passenger side of the bracket that slides into the block. Now for the fun of routing the new cable!

oh and I did take off the passenger wheel well which granted me good access to the top of the starter. I recommend not bending the connection tabs on the replacement cable until you weave it around the block.

I just Hope I never have a need to replace either Battery cables.

Good luck and glad you found the way...

Some jobs we do and some jobs we hire out.... pick yer poison!

It took a little coaxing, but I got it all in to place. My battery voltage indicator is now at 14V and electrical system finally seems stable.

Can you let me know what the issue was? My voltage gauge fluctuates a bit and am wondering if you had the same issue.
