I just got an 03 Avalanche and want to replace the stock head unit...I was told that with this R.D.S. thing that I can't completely change the stock radio that if anything I have to move it to another location in the car...has anyone done this?? and if so is there anyone that knows where I can get some instructions to do it myself if it isn't that complicated???

The RDS radio do require a little more thought. A freind had his relocted under his seat.

I think a company like Peripheral, PIE, Soundgate, or Blitz just came out with a plug in module so you can remove the RDS radio completely. I just can't remember right now. Maybe some else can chime in. If not, search those sites.

WRONG!!! RDS is radio data service--nothing more than a little info broadcast by a few radio stations giving your their call sign and listening type. You can easily remove your radio by simply using a databus interface (do a search as this has been covered several times, but if you come up empty I will assist) and a door chime replacement module as you will lose those when you remove the radio. Peripheral and Soundgate have the necessary parts for the job.
