Replacing rear pinion bearings.

It appears that the rear pinion bearings are whining in my 10-bolt, and need to be replaced.

Now I have done several ring and pinion changes on Jeep diffs, so this is not anything new to me. But onto my question. If I simply replace the pinion bearings. Whats the likelihood that the pinion will remain shimmed correctly, as well as the backlash? In short, whats the chance that once the bearings are replaced, the rear diff will be relatively silent?

Thanks

IMHO zero.  Going to have to set it all up again.  Might as well do it with all new parts.
