I installed a new exhaust a few weeks ago. I believe at some point I should be getting a little better MPG's my driving styles has not changed . I'm still getting 17.0-17.5 with driving 95% highway. Should I have reset my DIC (computer) by disconecting the battery, or should I ride it out a few hundered more miles to see what happens? It's been at least 700 miles since the new exhaust.

2004/ 5.3L :B:

If it's been 700 miles the PCM would/should have learned and re-calibrated accordingly.

Side Note: I'm not sure changing the exhaust would improve your MPG's, but that's just my personal conclusion.

HTH ;)

Try calculating mileage manually for a couple of tanks. Good way to check up on the DIC anyway...

Also say to yourself over and over..."They lied to me!" This will get you over that...I have changed the exhaust (Corsa) the intake (UPD/K&N) and went to Synthetic Oil (Mobil 1)...all state "better fuel economy if you use , blah, blah, BLAH!"..."They lied to me!"..."They lied to me"... ;D ;) :p :B:

Whatelse can I do to help? According to most companies if you change out the stock exhuast it can help.

You could go out and buy one of those honda element's.... or the new scion would probably work... or just suck it up, and wait for the hybrid silverado to come out. This is my plan.

biggest reason I ask is I see lots of Av onwers here saying they get 19-20 mpg's I'm just trying to see how they did it.

Mebbe they're pulling it with something else??

:0:

I get 18 on a good day down hill with a tail wind. And that's 'manually calculated' because I don't have the driver's info thingie.

i just drive it. i don't worry about that gas mileage stuff. i would cry if i did. besides, if i was worried about it i would not have bought it. the fuel prices will slowly creep back down. that will help us out a bit. we will not have to spend as much at the pump, but the AV will burn it just the same. :E:

My 1st car was a Buick LeSabre...455ci 4 barrel carb...10 in the city and 11 on the highway...my 'Vlanche @ 12-14 is a Ultra Low Emission Vehicle in comparison!
