2003 Chevy avalanche 1500, grey cladding . What is
1) the best product to restore the cladding
2) the best product to re-paint or re-finish the cladding
Much appreciated. David

1; a lot on here use Refinish Restorer and what I use.
2; Others will chime in Prep, Prep, Prep and more Prep.

I used the Refinish Restorer product mentioned above for years and have been pleased with the results.

I have now switched over to CERAKOTE Ceramic Trim Coat.

My 2003 Avalanche Z-66 was in pretty poor shape since the original owner had never treated the plastic cladding during all of the years and the 241K miles he had driven the truck before I bought it.

Here are some pictures of the truck now after applying the CERAKOTE product.

As mentioned above, preparing the plastics with a good washing and drying is important, regardless of the product you use.

Also, understand that no product you wipe on is a permanent solution and they must be reapplied from time to time.

I usually reapply once a year or so and I am fine with that.

I typically don't wait until the plastics look really bad before I reapply.

I do not mind spending some quality time with my vehicles from time to time.

It's good for them and me alike.

I used CarWorkz Refinish Restorer and took my 2003 from this to that. For $35 bucks from Amazon it was well worth the effort.

Thanks. In what way was cerakote ibetter than the carworx refinish product ?

Better coverage, better finished look, better lasting so far, better application, better smell, the Cerakote looks better as it ages, the Cerakote seems to hold up better after many washes.

To me, something just seems better overall with a ceramic product verses an oil based product.

But, to be honest, I would gladly use either one if the other one was not available.

As always, understand neither product will last forever and both will need to be reapplied after a period of time.

This does not concern me as I often enjoy detailing my vehicles from time to time.

If you are looking for a permanent solution, then paint is your only real option.

Paint it...once and done. Looks factory new and doesn't fade, no maintenance. I paid 300 to do the one with cladding and 150 to do my others without cladding.
