Review who 'gets' the AV

not a bad write-up not really researched(if he came to this site)or spent some time with the Avy, he would be able to offer a educated opinion.
and why the picture of the WBH av?

I guess THE POWERS THAT BE have decided that WBH is what America wants.
I guess choice and freedom of chosing are dying.

<steps off of soapbox to cheers or jeers>

"and why the picture of the WBH av?

Why Not a WBH???? Choice and Freedom of Choosing would include the choice of a WBH. I had choice, and I chose a WBH.

Please remember my CladAlanche friends, this IS America. The products provided are driven by Market Demands. If the WBH sells in greater numbers, it is because the market requires that. Take the Pontiac UgTec, I mean Aztec for example. Great ideas, attractive pricing, yet sales have been dismal since introduction. This is the last year for that abomination due to a lack of market demand.

I, as a WBH owner, don't usually argue the clad vs. non-clad debate. I realize that over time, the sales numbers will bear out which vehicle is more appealling to SUV and truck buyers. I think it will be the WBH, but that is only my opinion.

Finally, to those that argue that the WBH is not an "Original Av":
Is the Mach 1 mustang not an original stang, the Z28 not an original Camaro, the TransAm not an original firebird, or the 71 GTO Judge not an original GTO? Heck, the Judge had an optional Endura nose front end that COMPLETELY changed the look of the front end, a unique hood, a spoiler, and unique graphics and insignia that all set it apart from the "normal" GTO! Yet it is now the GTO that is sought after by most!!!!!!! I will also add that in the case of most vehicles, when an extended model is introduced such as Camaro SS, or the S10 XTreme, or the GP GTP, they add spoilers and cladding to the sides, although the cladding is body-color and shiny. The only difference is this time, they took it off and added a front end treatment the same way they did to the Endura equipped GTOs of the early 70s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is my .02!!!!

"71 GTO Judge most sought after" I really need to disagree with htis statement, I would believe the early convertibles go for a much higher price. IMHO

Funk,

LOL...it's not a BAD thing...but it is NOT the original AV. As is all the cars you listed and thier variation - They are NOT the original version.

Decent review - simple to the point. It would surely get someone thinking about getting one to look into them even further.

Mud!

I APOLOGIZE!!!! I wrote this to the general public, and didn't realize it would be scrutinized. Please let me rephrase:

The 71 GTO Judge is ONE of the most sought after Goats!!!!!!! Personally, I like the 66 Tri-Power the most in Blue and without a top! I'll just have to settle for my 66Cat Convt and my LeMans for now!

Thanks for keeping me on my toes! LOL

They show a victory red caldded AV at the bottom....

From my experience, even those who couldn't afford the AV and dissed it for every reason under the sun now come to me and say....

"I saw a sweet EXT today!" It was on 22's and looked really nice."

or

"Have you seen the black z71 with the 12" lift? That truck really looks mean."

HOWEVER my favorite one is,

" Let's take your truck... I love the heated seats."

People who have seen the AValanche for what it is "get it".... most simply can't afford it.

BTW thanks for the article Kevin (y) Great review ;D

whoa WHOA whoa..........didnt want this to be a cladded /uncladded WAR.ALL I`m saying is what I am seeing lately in Ad`s....on TV.....Or on the Salesfloor of Chevy.............Is they are trying to push WBH Av`s...........I dont know or CARE why, I just want General Public WHO doesnt know of this site to have a choice.

Great Review

I think, key being think since I have no inside info, is that the next version of the AV will be WBH with cladding as an option. If you look closely at an EXT, it is a WBH with smooth painted cladding. Also the other day on a dealers lot I saw 2 WBH's with smooth painted cladding(custom jobs, not factory), but it looked like they bought EXT cladding and put it on a WBH. It wasn't a bad look. I think they will keep some form of cladding at least as an option.

I'm curious if any real market research was done that indicated that WBH would be more preferable. I'm guessing yes. Maybe you had a choice, but I can tell you that cladded '04s are scarce on lots around here. I'd probably have to order one if I were looking right now.

regarding this from the review:

Avalanche debuted for 2002, and was significantly tweaked and refined for 2003.

Significantly tweaked and refined? I love my '03 (chose it over a used loaded '02) but I'm not sure it was SIGNIFICANTLY refined. I know there were refinements...A/C, electrical, etc. I think the '02s are fantastic for a first-year model (y)
