I posted this b4 - went to the dealer and they could not duiplacate the problem.
Problem - DIC message - right rear door ajar. Door is closed not ajar.
If I let it sit the horn alarm will start sounding.

What i want to know is - I removed the door panel and checked the wiring - looks OK.
I would like to jump the switch leg to make the system thin the door is not ajar.
Anyone know if this is a normally open circuit or normally closed?
This way I can find out if the door switch is bad.
Thanks
Bud in MD.

The wiring goes to the purple connector on the bottom of the body control module. If it's grounded, the "Door Ajar" will show.

I will look for the wire/color in question, however you stated that they could not duplicate it. Is this intermittent?

The wire is connector row A, #2, a light green/black striped wire.

My '04 did the same thing, with the left rear door ajar. It was intermitent. To make a long story short, the door latch has the switch built into it.  The complete latch assembly had to be replaced! This is not an isolated problem. It seems this has happened more than it should. Bad latch assemblies? Who knows?

Sperry, If I unplug the connector this will not allow the switch to make contact and set of false alarms?

ARRGH - It's doing it again.
Only thing I can think of, It must be something with the weather.
Every time it rains this happens.
And what luck. I am out of warranty.
Any one know how to bypass this switch easily?

You must be getting water in the door somewhere. I would take the door apart and check the seals and try and water proof the connector. You already said that the wiring looked ok so I don't think it is there.

Unplugged the connector at the lock.
No more false alarms.
Must be a bad switch.

I am having the same problem with my 2003 av. with the door adjar waring light. The door is completely shut but the light doesn't come on all of the time.  I read that some people disconnected the switch while another replaced the assembly. Does anyone know the cost of replacement and or if the switch is disconnected will it cause any other problems with electrical system?

A year later...

The circuit goes to ground when the door opens. Anything that short it to ground will signal the notice, including the switch with a mechanical fault.

Disconnect the harness connector in the door. If it shuts off, then check the wire to the switch - then with an Ohmmeter, measure the switch operation with the door open & closed.

If it doesn't shut off, check on the wire going to the BCM, or anything tapped onto it such as an aftermarket alarm or another switch as part of a tailgate latch kit (side cover alarm switches).

If the switch is always closed during the door opened & closed operation, there's the problem.
Look for an obvious mechanical fault / replace the assembly. :(

Good luck!

had this problem...started with a thunderstorm that set the car alarm off one night.  THen the car alarm went off a few other times and "rear passenger door ajar" warning was displayed.  Took in to dealership and they determined was a faulty sensor and replaced it.  Have not had problem sinc.e
Not sure of cost - was under warranty.

Have looked a wiring print for a 2007 Avalanche and it shows a second switch in the latch assembly for each rear door. Both, left and right door switches are connected together - orange wire. Is that for door open information? It appears that the left rear door ajar wire is lightblue/black stripe and the right rear door ajar is lightgree/black stripe.

I have had success with smothering the proximity switches with WD40. (Water displacement formula # 40)
I don't know how or why this works, a friend tipped me off to this technique, it has worked for me.
