I am also in the market for a new basket.. take a look at www.sportsrack.com they have a few different selections and price ranges.. I did find a cheap one online I think it was called proline.. 160$ to the door. I also like the new BVG.. check it out. i know it's in the catalog unsure if it is online yet.. I will see if I can find it and post the URL.

martys748,

The only way I know you can do this is some of the baskets come with mounting options (which are just tracks or gutter mounts) if you donot have a roof rack also. I have seen some of the baskets and mounts in links off of the form post for TXAVs Bed Rack, so you may want to check that post. I am also looking into getting a basket but it will be to put on the TXAVs bed racks (this kit allows you to mount bike rack clips and/or baskets to it).

Sorry do not know how to make this fancy (edited the system was smarter than me and posted the name) but that post is http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php?board=119;action=display;threadid=5661

Hope this helps!

I would just bolt it into the Rain Gutter, Yakima and Thule both make mounts for that I think. Thats how I plan to mount mine, just make sure to get the rack size right! Not to wide and not to long or short! AND MAKE SURE you seal the bolts with silicon and you never have any problems. The big thing about roof lights and baskets is remembering that you are limited to going in some parking garrages and drive throughs...

Hey White Liner...

I just had mine installed this past Tuesday at SportsRack. They did a great job.

I didn't have the factory luggage rack, so they installed the track system, Yakima risers and cross-bars, and the BVG cargo box with the extender piece. I plan on installing lights on the box (got the light mounts for free!) sometime next month.
Looks great and is technically permanent. At least the track is permanent. The rack and box can be removed in four quick steps... No biggie.

First pic attached (hopefully)...
