I know this is an old picture but... What is on top of this Red Surburban? It appears to be a integrated roof rack / spot lights. Is this an accessory or what? Is it reasonable to think that something like that could be available someday for an AV?

Not much help - looks like an aftermarket rack.

Well if you notice the first line of the article, you'll see that it is aparently the 99 auto show in which chevrolet debuted the AV with all the trimmings. They always over do the new models and then trim back what isn't needed or would cost to much. Just like the 18" rims they had on when it frist came out, along with the Nav system and the stainless steel hook loops they had on the rear bumper. Your just looking at the ulitimate Av that would probably run as much as the EXT.
