Hey All,

Ok so I have this rubbing sound from my front brakes. I am in Winnipeg, rust ville. After looking at my rotors the rust was curling up the smooth surface it appear my pads were rubbing on the rust. I figure easy new pads and rotors. Did it and same noise, f#*%$!! When I did pads I cleaned and greased pins and clean sliders on the bracket. Did another look and the Callipers weren?t retracting all the way. She?s got 200xxxkm I figure she?s do for Callipers so both front Callipers brackets and pins brand new. Bled them and test drive stops on a dime still makes rubbing sound. f#*%$!! So I am out of ideas I have no clue what it is?!

I did front hubs last year, unless I got a set of duds not going to be those. Using a mechanics stethoscope I listened around the noise is definitely coming from the pads not the bearing.

Any ideas?

Remove the front tire/rim and take an angle grinder and grind off the built up rust ring around the outer edge of the face of the rotor.  As the rotor wears it creates this ring due to the pads not contacting the outer edge of the rotor.  Remove this bigger ring of rust and that should solve the grinding noise.
