Arghhhhhhhhh, here we go again. mariah785, check the archived messages. There have been many discussions about weight and length (yes that matters) of trailer v/s 1500/2500 truck. What gross weight trailer are you looking at? My trailer is a Wilcat 26FBS (made by Forest River). It's gross weight is 10,820 pounds, which is pushing it for even a 2500 w/ 4.10 gears. It's actual weight is probably more like 7500 - 8000 though based upon dry weight of 6245 plus another 1500 or so for lies, water, and our junk.
We've only had it a couple of months now, but it's working out well. Forest River makes very good products. We looked at a Terry for the same money and it was same dry weight. It's gross weight was only some 7500 or so pounds v/s the 10,820 of the Wildcat. This is due to lighter weight rating axles being used on the Terry. The Wildcat used the same rating of axle on their smaller units as the bigger ones, thus the huge carrying capacity.
Try to find a good indoor RV show. It will let you see many brands and quickly do back and forth comparisons of the ones you like best.
Keep in mind you should look at the lightweight lines of trailers because you're using a 1500 w/ 3.73s. Look for something w/ a dry weight around 3500 - 4000 pounds or less and you will be happier.
