Was driving along today and drove past (quickly) a
Ford dealership and saw a very sad sight...a Dark Green
Avalanche sitting in the used car lot...looked very
forlorn. Does that mean some barbarian somewhere
traded their Av for a :D: Ford?!?

It probably was an AV from someone selling their '02 to get an '03 with more options. ?Then the Fords dealer bought it from the Chevy dealer so that the Ford lot would have people to stop in to see the AV.
?
So, no. ?I don't thing a mentally stable person traded their AV for a Ford. ?It was probably a Ford Dealer that bought a used AV as 'bait'?

Stop by and get the VIN number. We'll track down the previous owner and get them into therapy right away!

I work at a Jeep store and we had someone trade in there AV red Z66 for a bottom of the line jeep.

I saw the guy and I think he was crazy. His AV sold quickly and it was great bait. Everyone came in to look at that truck. Helped us sale many other new/used cars. :)

I think Pdx was on the right tract
10 years ago I worked for a used car division of a GM dealership/ when mustangs were becoming popular
They took a late model mustang in trade, had the mechanic unbalance the wheels and loosen the exhaust so when customers test drove the car they where unhappy and it inticed them to but the Camaro's
Great sales tactic, but I felt It crossed a line
and haven't worked for a DLR since

Diabolical!

Hate to say it, but I am always seeing used Av's sitting on dealer's lots and in ads. Every now and then, it'll be at another Chevy or other GM dealer, but most have also been on Ford lots. It makes me wonder, but then again, sometimes people do actually do such weird things, and it wasn't just the dealer.

Traded a Z66 for a base model Jeep? Yikes, what a nut job that must have been to go from an awesome truck that drives like a Cadillac to a smaller, less refined, junk box. Oh well, there's always a few weirdos around....!

Trade in a new AV? At a Ford dealership? Must have traded it in for a new supercharged cobra or the truck was repoed and then auctioned off. Forget the repo, no AV owner would let that happen!!!

Their is a good answer.

Remember you can lease a vehicle for 12 months. These vehicles are then put into a auction for all dealers to bid on.

The F dealership could have purchased it at auction.

One of my co-workers buys all of his cars that way.

One year old leases.

Yeah, when I saw this I was wondering how you trade in a $38k Av on a vehicle that is advertised at $15,899.

You guys should think about the economy and how that is affecting some people. It is possible that the person who traded his Av for a base Jeep needed to lower his payment and get better gas mileage and lower insurance costs. It could've been someone who loved his AV, but had no choice! :B:

True, but I don't know if a dealer would pay off your 30k note to sell you a 20k vehicle or not.
