Decided to do some landscaping this weekend.......

So went to home depot and bought some of those landscaping paver stone thingys....86 big ones and 40 little ones for a total weight of 1800 pounds.............

Everyone was shocked after 30 mins the Home Depot guys finished loading...

The AVY was squating but it picked up after a bit (Z66)....of driving.....People were amazed some old man purposely waited to see what it would look like...he said he was going to buy one now....he was thinking of the CADDY..

Come back next day pick up more small blocks and top soil.total weight 1600 pounds......................more people amazed and were telling stories about the guy yesterday with all them pavers in the back.....I said it was me,......and wait awhile I wlll be back for more dirt....

Couple hours later I was back for more dirt about 1700 pounds.....people still amazed.......all I know is I was sore...

Another thing the AVY is good for is pulling out crappy plants, trees, & shrubs.....put the truck in 2nd and pull....no wheel spin or nothing just pulling power.......

I pulled out large holly bushes, some 3-4" dia. trees and some other plant I cannot describe...

All in all a good weekend for the avy.

The large landscaping blocks we have around our house weigh 70 lbs EACH (I have picked them up, they are a backbreaker), 86 of them would weigh 6020 lbs.....the ones we have are about 14 inches by about 7 by about 7, I am not sure how large yours were. I have seen Home Depo load a skid into a pickup before but it was a 3/4 HD or 1 ton and they squated down quite a bit. How big was the stack, 3 ft x 3 ft x ????

Yea, get 6k lbs of vehicle moving and small bushes and trees don't stand a chance. Did you use a chain, rope, or strap?

Just curious:

What happens when you exceed the specified weight limit for the AV. Has anyone EVER had a bent frame? Does the bed contort? Okay the Z66, 4X4, and Z71 are 1500's or 1/2 or 1000lbs load capacity, and the AV2500 is a 3/4 or 1500lbs load capacity. What happened to you AV after you went to Home Depot 3 time for a minimum of 1600lbs each trip? Did the ride degrade at all after off loading

I transported quite a few large roacks as part of my patio construction project, and my AV Z71 squated down quite a bit, so based on your numbers, I guessing each load musta have been at least 1500lbs. The ride is the same as before.

WHAT DOES THAT

1500
2500
3500

RATING REALLY MEANS???

Or in nautical terms, what is the HULL CRUSH DEPTH?

Any GM or truck experts/designer available for an industry answer???

:) :) :)

i picked up 80 12 inch retaining wall bricks that weigh 24 lbs each from menards and 25 patio blocks for the pool the retaining wall bricks alone are 1920 lbs it was sagging alot but it handled it i too had people watching to see if it could be done..ha we did it next day went to get 12 ft 2x4 no problem........ :B:

YGMN, ya just made me real tired after reading about your work this weekend. I just replaced a gargage disposal and now must put in a new hot water heater. Gee, I guess I need a rest now.

YGMN, We've got a small 80' long retaining wall we need to out in... I was thinking since you now have all that retaining wall experience...

Isn't it time you got out and explored the Pacific Northwest?

the big blocks were 12wide x 4 tall...20 pounds each per the pallet sticker......my weights are pretty good plus minus a bit...

I think in the long run if I drove like a maniac with too much load I could ruin a rear axle or other suspension component,...

I will move no more PAVERS in my life time this is a FACT...... ;D

PS used tow strap around plant and hooked onto holes for tow chains......IT was fun being destructive ;D

The guys loaded them one by one????? I just had them throw a palet in the back end with a fork lift. The palet fits perfectly long ways.

I'm not sure what the weight rating really means, but it is a guide line. I loaded about 1600lbs of lead shot in the back of my 2002 Z-71 and drove it about 30 miles. I was very glad to get it home and empty. Not very stable on the highway and uhh-umm exciting on the corners in town.

paulb, if you dropped your tailgate going down the road and let all that shot tumble out.... man that would not be fun to follow or clean up.
