Sail Panel lights and Snugtop?

I have also heard that many Avys with the color matched cladding actually have EXT sail panels which are shaped differently and the snugtop and windows will not fit at all.  Have you guys experienced this?

You are right the snugtop will not fit EXT cladding smoothed at all.

For future reference. The snugtop will NOT fit properly on the cladded sail panels that have the light inserts.  I tried with and without the light bars installed.  The panels are raised only a 1/4" to accept the side brake light bars and it is just enough to trow off the snugtop fit.  I couldn't get the top bolt holes to line up until I removed the panels completely.  I will be replacing the cladding with the ones that do not have the brake light inserts.
is ther possibly a way to modify the snugtop to accept the lights? maybe a little dremel action since you already have to paint the snugtop?

Anything is possible but it really depends on what you want to modify and does it make sense.  Some mods could cost more then they are worth.

That.... i hate to be straight forward here but seems to be where this is going if you buy another slick kit have it color matched and then have the snugtop color matched .... or have your original panels sanded down and color matched and still have your snugtop color matched ..... or modify your existing snugtop to accept the lights and have the snugtop color matched

Here is the color matched top with new painted sails for those interested.  This snugtop is for pre 2007 so I am waiting on the post 2007 glass to wrap up this project.

It looks much better now.

Without doubt you do. (y)

I think snugtops are very handy if you put large objects in the bed.

Thanks.  I may have the only Avi with slick kit and snugtop.

^ mine is probably next. My '07 had the original cladding smoothed and painted and now I am probably picking up a 02-07 snugtop this weekend.  (y)

I simply want the lid for winter, and maybe some camping trips. Want to keep snow off the bed panels that leak a little anyway. But for camping this could be really awesome because I usually fill the bed with wood, now I could leave the bed covers installed and put luggage on them while the snugtop is installed.

I don't know if you are still out the, but thank you! I have a 2007 Southern Comfort and am installing my color matched Snugtop next week!
