why do we mod? to be a little different from the next guy?? To get more power??? for that certain look ?If I mod do you want the same one. i think some modsshould not be hoarded, but shared, especially with club members so here goes ?1 ?One of my first mods was to put plexiglass in the sail panel cut outs ?they are just siliconed in have been on for months have been tested to 98 mph and set the truck off a little bit. The hardest part was to make a template to take to the plexi (sign) shop I'll mail a tracing of the template to any av clubber that want it. If the club decal was made small enough to fit these ?I'd put a set on each side ?I just cant bring myself to put it in the rear window. ?my mod your mod????? ? I guess the way to get an address is to e mail address to got changes e.mail You can kinda see the panels on avalanche pictures av mods and pictures by got change

What if you fit the plexiglass between the two pieces that make up the rear sails? (plexiglass sandwiched in the seam)

I'd assume you'd have to trim one of the sides down the thickness of the plexiglass so that it'd fit back together correctly....

marc i tried that first and it was half past a nightmare the pieces fit in against that lip and both sides are not quite the same but its an easy mod if you just silicone in the plexi it wont fit between the panels

I think your sail panels look beter than the ones that come with the snuggie. Great job ;D. I just happen to have some of that smoke plexiglass in my garage ... I've seen alot of pics of your mods. You indeed have a unique and very cool AV.

Those panels do have a slick look. If you still have the template, do you have access to a digital scanner to make a jpg image (or two if the size is too big for a scanner)?

I would be interested for sure in the specs. Don't know who would do it here, but I'll find somebody.

I've also been thinking about the center bar on the grille. I have already painted much of the cladding, but the guy that did that was very suspect about painting the cross piece. Did not think it would last.

I'm going to go to a sign anf decal company. I'm thinking some dark (smoke) decal material might do the job very well.

spark, i got a small rock ding on the chrome grill strip and when i pressure washed it it blew off a quarter size strip of the chrome over teh gray plastic I think I'll try for warranty first and then if i dont get a new on ,pull the grill again (ist time for the aircraft landing light install} and try to low all the chrome off. I saw a black av picture here on the club site and it looked fantastic!!!

Yes, I saw that picture too. Not going to try painting it as I think chips would be a problem, but I'm going to check with the 3M automotive shop here and see what they may have.

Yea....

1. Where did you get them?
2. How much did they cost?
3. How hard was the install?

big red z-71 yyeah man the look like they came from the factory. I put mine in about christmas, I have posted about my way of making the windows and have mailed a few templates the template is pictured on another post.. I just siliconed the 1/8 smoked plexi in from the bed side. the plexi lays up against the lip I can pull them and rub the silicone off with my finger if I need to. I guess somebody could swipe em?? I paid 40$ for the pair snd 5bucks for a tube of silicone.. First I held them in with tape, put 4 1 inch beads to hold them in place and the next morning put a nice thin bead all around no holes nowhere Its a cool mod and one of those that nobody notices cause it looks like it belongs keep n modding I get new ideas everyday and have three or four in progress right now

BIGRED:

Would you consider making them as a kit for club members. You could sell them using PayPal and I'd set you up in the club store. If your material cost is $50 I'd say that a fair selling price for a completed kit that you just install would be $80 to $95 - depending on how much time it takes for you to fabricate the pieces.

I'm sure there are folks that would buy them.

Another question - would you consider writing a CAFCNA story on how to do it - $25 is on the table if you do it!

I'm in if you make a kit... I am not very crafty in making things like those but would be interested in buying a set.
