UPDATE-SEE PICS BELOW!!!!!

All right Portland Avers, Avtripper and nf-avgirl are getting their crews together to go quadding at Sand Lake on the Oregon Coast on May 1st

Where-Sand Lake OHV area

When-leave from the Beaverton Starbucks coffee GTG on May 1st, 7:30 AM

Rip it up with some friends on the Oregon Dunes, or just cruise over and enjoy the drive. Hope to see you there!

I took a lot of pictures and they look great! I am working on getting them up of the site soon-they are much large than the 100 kB maximum!

If the nf-avgirl has "great" photos they will be worth waiting for. The weather cooperated and the views for those of us that went were awesome. (those of you from out-of-state should get a good look at the OR coast.) I have 2 boys that are dying to see the pics. One boy (the one that lost the quad down the ravine) wants to see how far down his bike really was and the other boy wants to see if we are telling the truth about the roll-over incident. I, too can hardly wait to see them. After the incident a little ice for the leg and a little "wrenching" on the quad fixed both injuries so we could stay and quad just a little while longer. Still made it home in time to watch COPS & America's Most Wanted. Thanks to nf-avgirl & her crew for sharing the fun with us. bob & crew

Okay, I hope I'm doing this right...

Here is the beautiful Oregon Coastal scenery on the way to Sand Lake OHV area. That is Avtripper in front on me with his two quads.

Here we are with our Avs in the sand-there were some rocks in the parking lot to keeps the Fords from getting stuck, but it really was interesting backing up the trailers in the sand with 4WD on!!!

In the picture, my av is on the left with my quad, Avtripper on the right with his 2 quads.

Here is Avtripper, aka Bob, with his son Joel and their two new quads. Look at those smiles! They were ready to go!

So we were racing across the sand and come across Bob sitting by the tree line. "Hey Bob, where's Joel?" Joel had lost his quad to a steep hill that had tipped him over backward. Joel adn the quad tumbeled down the hill until the quad finally laid entangled in trees and brush to the point where it would be impossible to get him out. "Doh! I forgot the camera!" So I rode back to camp as fast as possible and got the camera just in time for absolutely nothing... They had already flagged down a Chevy truck and had hauled Joel's quad out of there. Here is "Joel's hole..." the quad eating ravine...

Here is the rescuer, fellow Chevy owner, and sand fanatic. Avtripper found this guy just out cruising the dunes in his Chevy-no quad, no friends along, just cruising. I don't think he believed me that he was going to be on the Internet!

Here is the view of the ocean while at Sand Lake. One of the great things about Sand Lake is that you can ride right down on the packed sand, or sit on the dunes above the beach and watch the people and the waves below. This is one of the most beautiful views on the coast...

I love riding on the firm packed sand. That is where some quads can get up to 60 MPH!!! I love just sitting next to the water line and watching the waves. Here I rode out onto a sand bar that stretched out into the water and relaxed on my new quad...

This picture was taken from the 3rd Annual Coast Cruise earlier this year, but I find it fitting to show it now... Here is proof that the yfz 450 fits in the Av without removing the rain gutters. Beware!!! Always put your quad in forward-I almost knocked out my rear glass when I tried to put it in backwards-the grab bar fits nicely through the glass!!! Avalance knows how much those windows cost!!!

looks like alot of fun.... I am very tempted to get a quad after going out on the dunes down here with friends..... but I don't get to see water at the dunes outside of a canal that runs just outside of the dunes :cautious:

thanks for sharing the great pics..... They are GREAT!!!!!

Glad Joel didn't eat it too bad.... sounds like he came out unscathed... that's a good thing.

Did you give Rescuer a reason to get an AV? ;D Glad he was driving a Chevy (y)

Would love to find a way to join you one of these times.... our kids have quads.... will have to talk son in law into going with. ;D

The action shots look great!

This one is my favorite...

Really makes me want to head out to play on the beach!

:cool:Great pics. I rode there once. Wow. It had just rained so some of the sand bowls were full of water. Had a Suzuki 250 Quadracer. Now I want the Artic Cat 400 quad.
Very beautiful area around there!!!!

Anybody ever ride at Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Utah? Pine trees in the sand also.

Beautiful place to ride (y) We just bought our daughter a Raptor 80 youth model (her first). I hadn't ridden in years but of course dad had to check hers out to make sure everthing "worked ok" ;). Man! I had forgotten how much fun they are....I'm now shopping for one myself!
