Hey all,

FINALLY got off the fence and got the order in on my new AV!!! ?;D ?:B: ?;D Had to work out some details on a decent trade for my '69 VW Bug before I could make the deal. I know, not the best to be trading a classic car like that, but I'm having a bear of a time selling it and need a larger vehicle for soon-to-be-expanding family.

On that note let me take this space to sincerely thank and recommend Tedford Chevrolet (and Randal Shinn) in Farmersville, TX (east of McKinney on 380) to anyone in the north DFW area. They were second to none in their effort to find a buyer for my Bug so that they could offer a reasonable trade in on it. In addition to that, they said to go ahead and try to sell it anyway, and if I found a buyer who would beat their price to bring them by the dealership and they'd process the paperwork to make it look like a trade-in and sale to the buyer for the new sales price, FOR FREE!

The AV was ordered 11/5 on GMO so I won't have it till Santa drops it off late in December but I'm already getting the mod jitters and will surely have a pair of Amber bulbs in my pocket on pick-up day.

Since I don't have pics for ya yet, here's the details...
1500 Z-71
Arrival Blue Metallic/Dark Charcoal
3.73 Rear Axle (couldn't justify the 4.10s)
Leather 8-way Buckets with warmers
Bose 6-Disc Changer
Driver Convenience Package
Trailering Package
Accessories Direct (Thanks SJProwler!) Polished Stainless Assist Steps ($235 vs stock $585)
Molded Hood Protector (TX Bug Deflector)
Molded Splash Guards (will be snap connected to prevent rip-off)
2nd Row Seat Liner (save seats from cargo and dog)

And soon as it gets here I'm having the dealer run it by Discount Tire to put on a set of GoodYear Wrangler MT/R 285/70R17s and possibly a new set of rims too (leaning toward ARC Teron 17" but taking suggestions still). So if anyone needs a full size Z-71 spare just say the word as I'll have 3 or 4 available very soon.

Also, did anyone ever start that "What to check at the dealer before you pickup your new AV" thread yet? (Check Parking Brake is adjusted properly, etc.) That list will be really useful to me soon.

Congrats on the new ride TXAVy! (y)

After you get it you'll have to join the rest of the D/FW crew in get togethers and cruises....

....and the mods........oh there are sooooo many mods!

;D

Congrats, TXAvy! Having a dealer who goes the extra mile (without begging and screaming on your part) is a sincere pleasure. They'll certainly appreciate the positive exposure you've given them on this site.

As for the "Dealership Checklist on Pick Up Day," I don't know about the technical end, but I'd have my favorite CD (or 2) in my pocket along with those DRL bulbs. Enjoy!

That's Excellent TXAvy,

It sounds like the twin to mine except I have the 4:10's, the thing about arrival blue....

The more you polish it, the more you want to...

Check out my pic site below, lot's of good pics in Arrival Blue!

You're gonna go nuts waiting for it... :B:

Congrats!

I was gonna say that would be perfect timing to go out and challenge your Av in the snow...BUT, I bet you don't get too much of that over there in Texas.

I would just like to echo the congrats you've recieved up till now and expect that you are going to thoroughly enjoy your new av...the best of luck with it....the indulging starts now... :) :B:

Just bumping the thread a bit (and my post count too I guess) to say that I talked to the dealer and heard that my build date was supposed to be yesterday (11/20) and that unless they have a slow week shipping the AV should be here in mid December. YAY!

I'm gonna laugh out loud if it arrives a little early on my actual birthday Dec 8th. ?

Until it arrives my trade-in vehicle is still for sale. A fellow CAFCNA member who lives right next door in Frisco is comin by tonight to take a look at it. Here's a link to the sale thread...

1969 VW Bug Convertible

Yee Haw! Congrats on the new ride. My wife liked the arrival blue, however, I couldn't resist the grey. Blue, grey, just as long as it's an Av!

Update: Looks like my AV was built on schedule and my dealer now has the invoice. He says it's currently scheduled to arrive a little early (December 2nd), but that he frequently sees up to a week delay in shipping from any vehicles that ship from Mexico.

So looks like the delivery window is currently somewhere between 12/2 and 12/9. They're gettin scary close to my birthday on 12/8. Still holding my breath.

How cool would it be for your Av to get here on the 8th...now that would be one heck of a birthday gift.....I finally got to look at the arrival blue this morning when I was at the Chevy dealership...nice...the works...sticker price $40,383..... :B:

In a quick fyi, I had a next door neighbor that would run out and get all his mods even before he purchased or leased the car or truck....he had spoilers, rims, kits all sitting in his garage waiting for his car....amazing...talking about planning ahead... :B:

Congrats ! ! ! Are you going to get any mods ahead of your arrival date? Maybe some amber DRLs?
I'm DEFINATELY sucked into mod fever already. Will have Amber DRLs in my pocket on pick up day, and Non-stock Nerf Bars (like SJProwler), Weather Tech Window Vents, and GoodYear Wrangler MT/R 285/70R17 tires are all being ordered/installed by the dealer and rolled into the financing for me.

There will be splash guards, hood protector, and trailering package too, but I'm not including factory options as true "mods".

TXAVy,

I know what you're feeling! My Summit White 1500 4x4 is scheduled to arrive the same time as yours! I've got over $200 of goodies either on the workbench or on order (got the amber DRL's Saturday)! I'm about to go over to a local truck accessories place and check out their bug shields (like in about 30 mins!).

Anybody want a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab SLT? Only 36K miles! ;D

Is the splash guards available in the darker cladding colour for the 2003? I haven't been able to confirm their availability yet. Does anyone have the part number for the new darker coloured ones?

OK then, I give in... what's the difference between the two? Same price and same description, I'm guessing that one is front set and the other is rear set... would that be right? Are we sure that they are for the 2003?

Dunno yet, but if mine don't match the cladding I'll let the dealer replace 'em at his cost. I'll let you know when it arrives.
