I stopped by my Chevy dealer and they had an '03 Charcoal Avy Z71 out...3 Grand more on the sticker and you get the new color and darker cladding (Dark, Dark gray with metallic and dark gray cladding), power adjustable pedals, BOSE stereo, Power folding mirrors with the turn indicators in the glass...radio controls in the new steering wheel...VERRRRRY NICE!!! :B: ;D ;)
(it was 41,900 I think)

IMHO - not worth it.

I'd replace the stereo & HU anyhow, haven't had any experience with adj pedals so I can't say there, have only had to fold my mirrors in once, and I'm not that lazy to not be able to get out and fold them in myself. -But the darker cladding is pretty nice. But for half that $3000 you could get it color matched. ;D

Yeah but it's also a year younger! Darker cladding, bigger centre console, adjustable pedals... and surely the 2002 stocks must be getting low by now, so choices are getting limited. (y)

How did you like the metallic gray color? So far the only one who really likes the adjustable pedal is one of my gfs. I do like playing with the power adj seats and sunroof ;D (first time I've owned and auto with both)

For 41,900 sounds like it had all the options.

They had 2...a black one and a gray one...I liked the Charcoal Gray...it looks similar to that on the Saturn Vue if you have seen that...lotsa metallic... :B:
Only things I would like are the BOSE and the turn signals in the mirrors...larger console might be nicer as well it just looked like a deeper lid but it did look a lil different...I thought it was just the lid.

Before I bought my 2002, I looked at and test drove a red 2003 Z71, I liked the power pedels, but, I also let my wife (5ft tall) try them and she said she didn't need them. We then went to try out a 2002 and she liked it. She could fit in just fine. I did like the turn sig's in the mirrors, but I am sure there are aftermarket mod's for that. As far as finding what I wanted in a 2002 I just went to gmbuypower.com and started searching inventories. There is still quite a bit of inventory out there.

Sticker price hike for 2003 was about 150 dollars, but they also took off a couple features in 2002 I liked.

Tough decision, but, I got my 2002 at the right price so I went with that.

Good luck with your shopping & the best thing to do is get what you want!!

Hey, what did they take off for '03??? I love my '02 but need ammunition for the inevitable bench racing and watercooler wars... ;D ;)

A dealer by me has several '03s with darker cladding. I think that they look great. I really like the new "charcoal" color and I don't know if it is just me or not, but the "new" blue is SWEET I think it is a shade lighter than the old indigo blue.. Looks great with darker cladding.

I wish I had an '03 for more speakers and folding mirrors, but I do love my SOM '02...

I got my first look at 03's last Sunday, nice!

I was a little disappointed in the new cladding color.

Was expecting the cladding to be more darker. (is that correct grammar?)

In the bright sunlight the cladding on an 03 parked next to an 02 did not look much darker to me.

I do like the new cladding, just thought it was going to be even darker.

I got to see the '03s just this past Saturday. I must say, the new darker cladding looks sharp on the black AVs (y)

Stopped by another dealership yesterday and saw the new dark gray AVs. In the sunlight they look dark green, but in the shade they look gray.

If anyone here is from the Bay Area, F.H. Dailey Chevrolet in San Leandro has an '03 SOM AV on 22s. It was a Z66 I believe. Nice ;D

Hopefully I can get a good deal on a black '03 Z66. Then...let the MODs begin!

Welcome Drew,

Must be that SF Haze that makes it look green ?. ?

Metallic Gray isn't that great of a color, they should discontinue it immediately so there aren't that many out there ?>:D

Good luck on your purchase of a black one, I know you'll love it.

BlkFrog,
Do you have any pic's of your Av? Trying to decide what color to get, but I haven't seen any good clear pictures of the gray. The one on the Chevy site is blurry.

Thanks

Under the Future and Vison section Goo drove and posted pics of an '03 Grey AV. I can't get it to link but it says " Test drove '03 with pics!" with like 15 pages of responses. Also I think club member "Gabe" posted a fair amount of pics of his dark grey AV. You could probably do a member search. Grey looks nice

CQB is right club member "Gabe" has some real nice pictures of his Metallic Gray '03 (z66 I believe). I'll take some pics tonight and post them so you can see them.

Remember though the gray isn't a good color so the fewer of them on the road the better >:D

Anybody know how much a new set of plastic would cost? I've beat the plastic on my '02 pretty good and the darker color would look nice with my blue. I've had a lot of fun this summer with my Av. ;)

I was able to compare the 03 and 02 Av's side by side because my dealer had 3 of each! To be honest, in the sun I didn't even notice the cladding difference! :-[
There were obvious ones like steering wheel controls, but the cladding difference is rather subtle. The charcoal grey one was very nice looking, but mainly because of the METALLIC in the paint.

My chosen 2002 has a 07/02 build date by the way. Has been on the lot less than 30 days. I would think that would mean they hadn't made many of the 2003's yet. An 02 had what I needed (vs. what I may of wanted), so I'm rolling instead of waiting. That's the biggest advantage of an 02 if you ask me!

Darker cladding with my White Av would look nice...I don't know how much in the hole it would put me though....and on top of paying for my wedding..it would be costly.... :B:

I get my '03 Dark Metallic Grey North Face tomorrow.
Grill center bar color-keyed with Trenz billet bowtie. Will install PIAA bulbs, amber drl's, 899 mercury xenon, billet gas door, Insert stripes, Mag light and WAAG front runner this weekend. Contemplating Borla cat-back and UPD.

Unfortunately for us early buyers, with Chevy putting all the rebates on them, the values won't hold up as well as they should I'm sure! Oh well, I plan on haveing mine for quite a while anyway. Congrat's on your wedding!!

I'll bet you five bucks that your 5ft. tall wife can't see in front of the Av when she's in the driver's seat. Sure, she can see out the windshield but there's probably fifteen feet in front of the Av that she can't see.

How do I know? ??? I brought my wife to the local dealer and she sat in the driver's seat, raised it up all the way, moved it forward enough to use the adjustable pedals, and she couldn't see doot in front of the vehicle. :6: The seats don't go up very high so the visibility for an altitude-challenged person is very limited.

By the way she's 5'2" tall.

Thanks Ambalanche.....funny I haven't gotten cold feet yet....better sit closer to the baseboards.... ;D

So I may yet have an excuse to keep my 5'3" missus out off my new Avy! :0:
