The gold part of my tailgate emblem was custom painted blue. However, the chrome is buckling and peeling. I found a used emblem in better shape and would like to swap the center pieces. However, I can't figure out how to separate the gold part of the emblem from the chrome back piece. Has anyone done this? If so, can you please share...do you have pictures?

Thanks,

Tom

I don't have pictures, but use a fishing line or similar string and "saw" the tape that holds the two pieces of the emblem together. Get the string under the gold emblem and pull back and forth, it comes up in no time. Heat it up first and pry to get the string under if necessary.

Hey tom, while driving today I thought of something else.. I think I used a guitar pick to get one corner started after warming it up with a blow dryer, if you have small non-marring plastic pry bars that'd be even better.
Good luck man!
