I wonder what has been used for shock replacement with satisfaction ??
My Av doesn’t go off road and doesn’t have air shocks .

That is asking an open ended question with many variables. Some people want a firm ride and other want soft smooth ride then some aren't very sensitive about ride quality and what they want is low budget etc.
Questions like how long do you plan to keep your AV can be an issue as well. Companies like Bilstein make the shocks for the Z71 model AV and they make good shocks in general.
As a side note many shocks are tuned for a certain springs so if you change to a shock not paired for your springs it many affect ride quality so you may want to stay close to factory quality for best results so you don't have to change springs as well.

Good points!
My Av only has 120K and is in today for lower ball joints and an alignment since I put new Nokia All weather tires on recently.
Being 10 yes old ,I assume shocks are something to look at , as I intend to keep the Av .If stock Z71 is Bilstein, I guess spring difference is a factor .
