Or lack of one ;D The manual called for keeping it under 55 mph for the first 500 miles  Yeah right. I was able to keep it under 70 at least. I did acidentally get it up to 5300 or so RPMs on a couple of on ramps twice but not for very long.

After the first 500 miles, I towed a motorcycle trailer with two dirtbikes for another 500 miles throught he CO mountains. The manual stated keep it under 50 mph for the first 500 miles of towing. Oh come on! Well at least I kept near 65 and no higher. Problem is, in the mountains you need to use 3rd and 2cd gears a lot.

Now I was only pulling a 1200 lb load at best. My thinking is drive it like you normally would (within normal driving conditions that is). A run through the gears would be a good thing I would think.

Do a SEARCH on break in . . this has been discussed before! My guess is that GM has a reason for their recommendations . . . though I doubt you Av will die an instant death if they are not followed. Might well shorten the life of some components though.

I was a bit worried too . . as I bought my Av with 5 miles on the clock in C'Springs and then drove to Greeley . . . 75-80 mph on I-25. THEN I read the recommendations . . . I do wish the dealer had mentioned this! I did avoid hard accelleration, braking, etc. . . so, I guess I (and you and others!) will just see what we get on down the road.

Yeah, they didnt say much to me about break in period either. I bought mine and took it home, hooked up my 5000 lb trailer and towed it 100 miles down the road and back. Towed like a champ. Then later that night I read the manual. My stomach did flips when I saw the "dont tow" for break in. Oh well, 12,000 miles later and it still tows great. Im sure we all have these kind of stories though.
