Side Storage As Drink Cooler?

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I haven't seen anything on it so I wanted to ask.

My salesman mentioned that the rear side storage units could be used as coolers to ice down drinks. If so, where does the water drain? I would think into the bed, which would (hopefully) drain out the bed drains and not into the cab. Also, I can't tell how much, if any, insulation there is, so not sure if it would be worth the risk. Has anyone else heard this or done it? It would be handy for those trips to the lake, etc.

I've iced down several cases of ;)"sodas" ;) for tailgate meetings after work. I don't know if there is actually any insulation in the sides or not, but the ice did stay for over 12 hrs. last Saturday in the 98 degree heat. :B:

You haven't tried this out yet? tsk. tsk.

Keeps the "sodas" cold all day. Drains out the bottom (check posting about dust getting in this hole). Does keep the "sodas" cold.

I like "sodas". Tastes good after a hot day of off-roading in the AV. But Canadian "sodas" are far superior to American "sodas", eh, cause they're a lot stronger, eh. I am Canadian.

If you look you can see the drain holes in the bottom of the bins.

Come to the Pacific Northwest, we have a large variety of some of the best micro"sodas" in the world.

If you want to get a little more milage out of your ice, do what I do and take a plastic garbage bag and put about 3lbs of ice in it and put that in first in the bottom... then put a bottom row of drinks inside of it and fill it with ice, and then fill the rest of the storage bin. The plastic bag will keep a lot of the melted ice water in the storage bin to keep your drinks cold and keep the rest of the ice from melting as quickly.

If you use the plastic bag and fill the ice to the top of the storage bin, your drinks should stay cold 24-36 hours... even in the Florida sun and heat.

We use the left bin for Cokes, the right bin for Diet Cokes. That leaves the bed free for, um, Canadian sodas.

I take a clear plastic shoe box(buy at any store, target, kmart, etc) fill it with water and freeze. Then take ice out of the plastic and put the ice in the bottom of the bin, it fits perfectly in the bottom. Place ;)sodas ;) on top of ice block. Then fill the rest of the bin with cubed ice. It usually lasts about 36 hours in 80+degree weather.

Try Pyramid and Widmer labels for a start. Wheats, ales and hefeweizens are all good from these two breweries. Redhook has some good varieties as well. So much beer, so little time...

"Well?"

"Elsinores."

"Twelve."

"Twenty-four! Yeah, twenty-four Elsinore beers."

"Twenty-four Elsinore. That'll be $14.70."

"I believe there will be no charge on this two-four of beer, thank you."

"Excuse me?"

"Ok, uh, we found this mouse in a bottle of Elsinore beer that we bought at your beer store, eh? And we heard that when that happens you get your beer free."

"It's in the Canadian Criminal Code, eh. Like there's legal precedence set in cases in law, eh?"

"So, like give us our free beer."

Oops sorry... wrong thread. Should be in like the favorite movie quote thread or something, eh. So like, I'm sorry hosers.

How's it goin, eh? You hosers!

You have to add that one to the movie post. I've been trying to come up with my very favorite one, but there are so many (including the mouse sketch in Strange Brew) that I haven't quite chosen one to put in there as yet. Soon. Very soon. Eh?

Steelhead, I've written them all down and plan to sample them all. I'll have to organize the side compartments so no one particular beer sits at the bottom. A new post? How to organize the beer?
