Hadn't seen this mentioned in the many Silver Star discussions so I thought I'd offer it as my first nooby post.

Advance Auto (at least our local KC stores) have the Silver Stars on sale at buy one, get the second half off. Plus, for two pairs of bulbs, get a $6 per pair mail in coupon. I think the coupon is only good on the headlight type of bulbs. My regular store just got in their supply of the mini-bulbs as well, so I got the whole setup, 2 highbeams, 2 lowbeams, 2 fogs, 2 DRL's (amber, of course) and 2 signal lights. $117 after rebate, including tax.

I have been looking for the Silverstar highbeams, but can't find a 9011. :E: Are your's 9011's or 9005's? If 9005's are they bright enough for you? Appreciate any help.

Check some of the other threads.....9011 is a new bulb and well no one makes it.....

SO most have replaced with the 9005 I think

There is much discussion about this whole subject in many previous threads. Here is one of them:9011 Hi-beam bulb

To save you some reading, the 9011 puts out more lumens of light but the Silver Star 9005's put out a more white light which many say is better. The 9011's are only made by GE at this time and are very hard to find.

IMHO the 9011 high beams are fine, they are bighter than any other high beam headlight that I have ever had in the past. When and if my stock 9011's burn out, I will replace them with the Silver Star 9005's but for now I can use the $$ to do other mods.

Thanks for all the help guys. :) I have to say I am content with the 9011's. I just wanted Silverstar's all around. I guess I'll wait til mine burn out also. Thanks again everyone.

i will check for the SS's when i get to Fayetteville today. no one seems to carry the right ones here. if i can't find them i will have to order i guess.

Are GE and Philips the same company? Just wondering. The 9011 in my '04 AV are made buy Philips. I bought both 9006 and 9005 Silverstars tonight. Thinking I might leave the 9011's in place.

Ok, this is my first post since I am a new member. I have an 03 Z66 WBH and for clarification if I want to put silverStars in my high and low beams and my fogs, what are the part numbers for each?

Low beams are 9006
High beams are 9005
Turn signals are 3157 Amber
DRL's are 3157 Amber

If I remember, the 9011's are a 70 Watt version of the 9005's. But the Silverstar 9005's are 70W. (Don't take this de-facto, just needs to be researched and confirmed.)
I heard somewhere here that the 9005's were loose fit in the 9011 socket. I never confirmed that either.
Someone have the known correct facts?

Here is some info I found on the difference between bulbs.
http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/hl-filament-bulbs.htm

For the record, you also need to check yours. While the owner's manual states a 9011, my '03 came with 9005 installed. They fit fine and are not loose in the socket.

Just replaced my fog lights and low beams with silver stars. I used 893 for the fogs and 9006 for low beams. I have an 03 and it had 9006 low beam bulbs installed from factory not 9011. The 9006 silver stars did not fit as snug as the facotry bulbs.

went to Advance, again. they still do not have the bulbs i was looking for. they do have 313 3157's in a Roanoke, Va store. the lady looked it up on her computer. 313 S.S. bulbs. wow. only thing is i really just want to get the 883's for the fogs. i guess i will be orderig them.

here is a link to Advance if anyone is interested in the fog's. or anyother bulb for that matter. just change the zip in the upper right corner. check for stores near you that have the items in stock.

update on that link i posted above... i went to the Advance store's that had the bulbs according to the locator. well, long story short. they did not have the bulb. not only did they not have it, but they did not even know what i was talking about. :E:
i just had them order the bulb for me. they will have it Wednesday. no shipping charges. $19.95. soon it will be installed, and the agony will be over.

can you believe the Advance Auto losers do not have my bulbs. they told me they would be in today. i went there about 7pm. they have no idea what bulbs i am talking about. :E: :8: :7:

went to an Advance.they actually had five 880 fogs in stock. of course i got two. better hurry if your in this area.

I bought the last two 880s in my Advanced Auto parts....I miss Pep Boys...they always seem to have everything. The closest to me is in Germantown.

I have the DRLs, Lows and Fogs now and I am very satisfied with the Silverstars. Driving from D.C. to Florida at night is much nicer with the Silverstars leading the way.

880s are lower wattage than the 893s that the others are using. Plus I can't find the 893s anywhere.

i did not see any 893's either. i would rather not use the 893's because of the higher wattage. some have had problems with the heat melting things. everyone has not had this problem, but i do not want to be part of those few so i will stick with the 880's.

i keep reading about this 883 bulb, but have been unable to find it on the Sylvania site. i think this is the third time someone has referred to a 883 bulb. if you know where to find it, please, give me a link.
