i have a little debate going on with my friend. he seems to believe that simple green stains the paint on cars. now i use simple green on the cladding and on the engine and i have not had any problems with it. when i wash the cladding i usually get some simple green on the paint. i have not seen any stain on my paint at all. i read the back of the simple green bottle and it says it is safe for paint. so what do you guys think? i believe it is not harmful to the paint at all.

If used regularly and for extended periods of time....the chemicals in Simple Green will leach into the clear coat and make it cloudy.....now that said...it takes a whole bunch and a long time .....

I do not recommend using it on the paint because car wash products are much better.....I will sometimes use it on the tires and that is about it.......

Good Luck

When used at recommended dilution(I go 2 oz. per gallon), you will not damage paint. That said, it is not wise to wash in sunshine, or let it stay on paint long.

I would use a product specially recommended for auto wash however. Save the SG for non-painted surfaces.

I use it strictly to clean the tires, particularly the WOL.

If the lettering is really dirty, an SOS pad soes the trick.

I have used it on tires for years with no problems. I can see how it might affect the clear coat, but I have not noticed any staining on my white car.
