Sluggish Acceleration At Slow Speeds

I have noticed this a little... but I know what I am doing wrong..

I downshift (manually) to second to slow down the AV. (and maybe save my brakes a bit).. However, if it is in 2nd, it will not downshift (that I know of) even if I come to a complete stop, the AV will start in second.. A little weird, but I think that is how it is designed..

That is a feature, ;Dnot a bug, as they say - it is intended to give you less torque in wet/snow/muddy conditions

got change got 20,000 , miles now, gotta fipk, and alittle exh work, but still looking for a way to beat the bwuuuuaaahhhhhh bog down,, i find that the av wont hold first gear past about thirty, if you are not on it all the way, sometimes downshift even to first, coming up to a light and if i dont time it right even in first, it rolls over to second, and bwuuuuaaaahhh maybe its torque management, but even a t 6000 + pounds, i could "drive" my last truck. a diesel. k-5 and find the power. anything over 4000 on av up to 58800 rev limit is ok, but it sure does "fall down" on 1-2 shift i think it is a tourqe thing, and have paid the price on gas mileage every time i get the bwwwuuuuaaaahh.... once one of us gets it dialed, i know the will share it with the club, thats why im here!!!!!

Some of this can be cured with the shift points using the HPP3 or other programmer - more can be cured with a good transmission re-programmer like the Transgo - ultimately you will have to deal with the dreaded torque management - very aggressive in the 2002

So I have just read threw all these posts and found that most people are feeling the same issue, myself included. I have seen many mentions of tuning yet I have not read one post of someone getting a programmer and reporting the results?

I have been thinking myself to get the Diablo iTuner for the tuning and delete the DoD feature aswell as the transmission tuning it offers.

This thread is about 2002 avys which do not have AFM AKA DoD.
Completely different animal.

read this section for info about people using tuners and custom tunes:
