I really want the www.smartire.com Smartire tire pressure and temerature monitoring system. I called a half dozen places and finally found one that will sell for less than MSRP.

Perry at Quadratech will give a 15% discount if he can move 5 or more units.

MSRP on the basic unit is 229.95
the remote display is 49.95

Perry will sell them at:
basic unit: 193.33
remote display: 38.63

His number is 800-745-5337 ext 332

If we can get 5 people interested, I call him and let him know.

Any takers?

I have the SmartTire gen I system - works very smoothly - someday all cars and trucks will have this type of system.

NB: 2500 owners - if you have "E" [10ply] tires with 80 psi ratings you can not run the gen II system, you will need the gen I direct from SmartTire - setup for dually's and good to 80 psi.

Wait a couple weeks and I'll get your five takers.

Promise! ;D

Once again this is a really cool system - couple of things to remember when you install:

1. Make sure your tire machine doesn't just punch the tire off the rim [some older ones do], could damage the sensor.

2. Place the sensor opposite the valve stem, that way you know where it is when you remove the tire later, also mark the inside of the wheel with the sensor number - they have a little glue on thing for the outside - waste of time, comes off eventually. ;D

Let me know when your putting the group order in I might be intersted.

2 observations
1) The Full Function Display looks like it would take up the space of one of the cubby holes in the Avalanche's dash.
2) I guess the only way you can install this is by taking your tires off the rim or at least breaking the bead. Am I correct.

You will certainly need to break the bead - best bet is to find a tire shop.

Discount Tire said they will install it for $5.00 per tire if I do it at the same time I get them sipined. Not a bad deal. It may only take five minutes per tire at the shop, but that's a lot easier than trying to do it in the driveway!

I'd be interested in this system as well. ?

One question I'd have is can we get an extra sensor so we can mount it in the spare. ?(The full-function display description indicates it can handle 20 wheel positions.) It would be nice to have confidence that you have a useable spare without actually removing it to check.

Another question would be is the Remote Display wired to the basic unit, or is it also wireless (it looks wireless in the picture).

So far there is:
me
jmbfin
RichD
DamonCollins

and maybe powersurg

So that's 4 maybe 5. One more and it's a done deal.

About the spare,

from what I understand the sensors have a motion detector to turn them off, when the vehicle is not moving. This will help increase the battery life. You would need some way to work around that issue for the spare. ;)
