Smoke License Plate Cover?

My so-so Internet searching skills have not produced any results in locating a grayish-smoke plastic license plate cover that I'm considering for my Av. Now, I've found bronze tinted covers but that's not really what I'm going after. What I'd like is something that somehow "tones down" the contrast between the gray cladding and our state's white license plate.

Does anyone have an idea where I could find such an item on the 'net saving me all of the footwork required in going from auto parts store to store (I've tried that too)?

Any suggestions or precautions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you tried J C Whitney?

Here is what I found on their site. Is 5 bucks a good price for these plate covers?

You know, I beleive that one of the members has a connection with them, or lives close and can get a deal or something like that. do a search on here and see.

pdxkevin,

Thanks a ton!

I've ordered them and should receive them next week.

I hope they turn out as good as I think they'll look.

Check your local laws. In Illinois they are not allowed by law.

I have one of these "Super Protector" covers. It seems to work great but I just didn't like the discomfort I felt when being followed by one of the local county mounties. It's not that I'm interested in running red lights but the recently installed photo cameras are set to be a source of revenue rather than safety items. That and there are actually Constitutional rights issues at play here but I don't want to be the test case to make a point about it. :8: OK, I'm getting down off the soap box...

In any case, before putting on any type of cover check your local laws.

You have to be really carefull also of the cameras. I know a few people who had received notices that said they owed payment for bridge toll based on their license plate. When they got a copy of the photo, they could tell the plate was misread and obviously not theirs.
