Cindy-- I grew up in that area. I don't know how many times we went to Dinkey Creek for our summer vacation as a kid. I haven't been there in years! Man, depending on what you put together, I might have to join you for 'ole nostalgia!

Brendan

Cindy,

Sounds like a lot of fun to this NorCal member (y)

Since Hultzger can't make the Naitonal Meet this might be one he would consider. Bigred should have his truck by then. Keep us Northener's updated.

... and yes I did see this on your website as well >:D

Count me in Cindy, I messaged Aegis that if I could be of help to let me know. Dinkey is only 1 1/2 hours for me...
Tractman

WOW Cindy,
This sounds like great fun!!! Don't know if I will be able to make it though. I think I have some vacation in June, however I believe it's around the first week. Perhaps I could juggle some days around depending on the plans.

So sorry to have missed Calico, Looks like you all had a great time... Did you get my message?

Rita

Yes Rita I got your message. We did have a good time at Calico and offroading too... Sorry you couldn't make it after all. :( Maybe next time. :)

As for this weekend camping cruise...
We are thinking Friday or Saturday arrival...
Return home Monday....I think... it's way too early to say for sure.

We are hoping for alot of feedback. (y) Should be plenty of notice for those who would like to attend and to set up all the details.

Did you click on the link in Cindy's first post? You should see that it's a creek, sometimes bordering on river, but mostly creek. Unless there's a place that I don't know about, a boat wouldn't fit.

Geez, google your way to knowledge, young grasshopper! ;D

Brendan

i see... yup thats a small creek... i will now hide in the back of my truck, ahh i forgot, you can still see me with my av takin apart ahh the shame...

i'm sorry, i have learned, next time i will look at all photos before typing. ;)

~BIGRED

No problem--I just grew up in that area; we went there every couple years... So it was funny to me. Plus, Cindy did such a great job providing a teaser page link, that you wouldn't want to disappoint her, right?

Anyway, drive to Morgan Hill first; then 152 to Los Banos and 99; finally to Fresno and 168 toward Shaver Lake.... Ahhh the central valley. But get your truck fixed first!

Despite what I said about your boat, even though it's called "Dinkey Creek", there are some parts that look challenging:

So if your boat is a kayak or you have a rubber raft, bring it!

That's some beautiful country there!

Brendan

hmmm...

doesn't look like much of a challenge for my AV >:D >:D

I've been browsing the web looking up details about the Dinkey Creek area.... I am really looking forward to this trip! (y)

If you really want to bring a boat Shaver Lake is 12 miles from Dinkey.. The water would be very cold in June. Also the nights could be in the 40's. I will be up there in 2 weeks. (feb 17th). Beautiful country.

We ook a ride up that way today. There is still a llttle snow on the ground around Dinkey. Went on up to Shaver Lake and Huntington lake. That is another 15 miles up the HWY. Lots of snow there......Going to be a great time you guys....
Tractman

I will be up there on Feb 15 to the following Thursday. Lenny Xrover is thinking about joining me also.

Gary

Cindy, what is the deal? i got myself and one other wanting to go... any ideas on a date? also price would be nice, thank you.

BIGRED... We should have a date very soon! All I know as of today is June 2003.
As far as the money issue... this will be a weekend camping trip... So plan on $40 bucks for campground fees. That should be a safe estimate for 2 nights camping...plus your gas & food. Hope that helps.

I'm starting a ?list of those who are thinking about...
or are planning to attend this event.

Cindy-

Way to put me last--as I am *way* tentative. I would really like to do this, but it would have to be a 4-day (5 would be better), and it's such a long ways from our house. I don't know if we will be able to get the time off. Still trying to figure out the national too, which is the next month. It will all come down to what weekend, and how we feel--but I'm watching this thread--keep us in mind until the last moment!

Gotcha Brenden... I just didn't want to leave you off the list completely... I know it would be one long haul for you guys. ;)
There might be others who will be staying on longer...
I myself plan on 3 days.

Cindy,

As flynhigh (thanks for keeping your eye on me Michael) said, since I can't make the Nationals I'd be up for a North meets South. I'll be watching for dates.

Rick

Here is a picture of Dinkey Creek area taken on Feb 16th.
