Soft Topper - Question for those that have one.

I have a soft topper on my 2005. I want to remove it, easy enough to do. However, I have a question for those that have them and know the installation and removal process. During installation, you have to remove 4 of the bolts on the cladding on the roof (above the 3rd brake light) and install a metal bar for the soft topper to hook onto.

My question is this. Can i remove my soft top and leave that metal bar attached? I don't see why not but thought i would get some opinions. The only issue would be if rain got in, but I think that would drain out just as if water got beneath the original screws (although the original screws have a rubber gasket, I think). The reason I want to leave it on is because I have had one of those screws come loose and I don't want that to happen again. It was not fun replacing the nutsert (or whatever you call them). LOL.

Thanks in advance for the opinions.

Glenn Bookbinder is the only person I know that has one. I forget his screenname on here though. You may want to try to get him on the FB group
