1500 miles on my '02 NFE and I hear a whump, whump ....... I inspect my right rear tire and all that is showing is the electrode portion of a spark plug.
I called the Chev dealer and asked if the Goodyears have a Hazzard warranty (ie., VW's come standard with road hazzard tire warranty) and the dealer service manager chuckles and says "No!"

What gives?

Does anybody have any experience with a flat tire on their AV early in the life of the tire?

I did go to a Heavy Duty Truck Tire Co. and had it plugged and patched.

BTW, after the hole was patched he handed me the spark plug and suggested that I buy a lottery ticket cause I was so lucky yesterday.

I hope it was not your spark plug >:D

I had a bolt go in my tire...tick tick tick as I drove....I stop and see this 1/2" bolt sticking in my tire....patch and plug...

I hate road debris like this but sometimes there is nothing you can do....

Be greatful it was not a sidewall as those are unrepairable for safety sake.

Just a nail in my right rear . . . no big deal . . $10 and back on the road again (I think they pulled the tire and patched it from the inside - marking it first so as not to have to rebalance it)

If they patch or plug my tire I pay for the rebalance on all of them at that time...I feel the patch is enough Mass to effect the balance....plus they have it off already so not a big deal or expense....FWIW IMO HTH

About 15 years ago a friend and I were going to a campground. He was in his Jeep with Goodyear Wranglers and I was in my S-10 with Wildcat 30" tires. Now this was just a dirt road, no 4 wheeling or anything like that. He gets a flat and when we pulled over we saw a stick about 5" long and 1/2" thich sticking out of his sidewall. He was not happy :8:

It must have been a new guy. Sounds like someone got mixed up and installed a spark plug in place of a valve stem. ;) :B: :0:

I bet the plug fell out of a damn Ford. I think they are known for that. In the Consumer Report with the AV and F-150, the F-150 was delivered with lose lug nuts.

Sorry about your tire.

Thanks for the hint. My plugging kit just found a home in the drivers side bed compartment.

Aloha,
Murman
