OK, i read the newbie topics, but im still a bit lost, so here goes:

my neighbor and i just put an alpine CDA-7897 in his 2002 AV (z-66), bypassing the amp. He now wants to replace the factory speakers, but we don't know what sizes will fit. The best thing would be to be able to drop them in, without any strange mods or stuff like that. So if anyone could recommend a setup, that would be great!!! ;D

P.S. what exactly are the stock speaker dimensions???

Front doors - 6.5" midrange, and 1" tweeter
Rear door - 6.5" midrange
The stock speakers are 3.25" deep.

I would recommend the new Pioneer REV coaxials with an amp able to to give them at least 50RMS.
However if you do go with the REV's you will have to "space" out the rear speakers as they are too deep. ?The 6.75" REV's might be designed differently and fit perfectly. ?I probably would have went with them had I seen them first.

But Alpine, MB Quart, and Kicker all make great drivers.

Check out my post Internet Buying & Stereo Overhaul.

Let's move this discussion over to Stock Speaker Dimensions.
