Well, I have been looking forward to making this post for awhile now. I take delivery of my AV tomorrow at 3!!!!

AJCHEVY2002 hooked me up with not just a salesman, but the owner of a dealership very near to my house. AJ, you da man! Here I was, negotiating with a guy that I thought was just a salesman, but it turns out to be the president/owner of the dealership.

All negotiations took place over email (very wierd experience). Very fast, a great deal, and they located and transported the exact truck I wanted! This was just too cool!

Found out today that the truck had arrived, so my wife and I buzzed down there to look at it. It is so beautiful, I almost wept. I have been building this thing in my head for so long now, that to see it in person was unreal.

Anyway, here is what I have been waiting for:

Sunset Orange
1500 Z71
4.10 gear ratio
Convience Package,
6 way power heated memory seats, graphite leather
step assist (for the wife)
sunroof
it also has a dealer installed luggage rack, and yes there was the rust. They are taking care of it before tomorrow.

again, a big thanks to AJ... you da man!!!

I do that already with my modded New Beetle... my wife will probably leave me if I spend anymore time in the garage.

I guess you have to raise 'em right and then just let them go . . . . our little spork_av is all growed up!

welcome aboard to the Avalanche OWNERS group - secret handhsake lessons to follow (not that being just a mere enthusiast is such a bad thing, but now you can bang your knuckles right along with us) ;D

WOW SPORK I TOLD YOU HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF YOU! WHEN DO I GET TO SEE SPORK AV? MY NEIGHBOR ALSO HAS AVALANCHE SO THATS 3 PEOPLE IN COLUMBUS THAT I KNOW WE NEED MORE SO WE ALL CAN GET TOGETHER A RIDE. LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES TOMORROW AND TELL RICHARD I WANT MY KICKBACK (LOL :D :D JUST KIDDING I ASKED HIM TO TAKE CARE OF YOU EVEN IF WE HAVE NEVER MET BUT I AM SURE WE ARE GOING TO SOON. ;D http://home.insight.rr.com/wnpg/AVY.html

Spork . . .

I can feel the excitement . . . there's just nothing like the first time you see the Av that's to be your very own . . well almost nothing like . . .

Have fun tomorrow!

Spork---Great color ;D Let's see with 200+ post to this site...it had to be killing you...after all you were going to wait till fall. I can only imagine the email exchange-
Spork-"What was the born on date"
Dealer-"Hmmm odd question it was xx/xx"
Spork-"Well in that case you need to fix the rust"
Dealer-"What rust...lets see...Hmmm...how did you know?""
Spork-Just call me Spork-Cleo (get it...sorry);D ;D

Have fun

AJ, thanks again man... I am counting the hours till I go get it (work sucks!) We need to hook up and drive our AV's some place. Just let me know when.

The sales man who handled the dealer swap showed us our AV last night. He also has an AV (actually 2, he has a white one, and his father a black one) and was interested in the website. Unfortunately, I didn't have any brochures on me when I went down there last night. I will be good and take some tonight.

And yes, it was killing me being on here and listening to everyones stories, without being able to post my own.... since I posted over 200 times without one, imagine what will happen now that I do have one.. ;D

That's outstanding news, my friend! ;D Also, I just wanted to mention that you have a great handle, "Spork". That's a great one!

Took delivery of my truck at 3 today. Although AJ set me up with a great deal, the final signing of the papers was painfully slow. We were there over an hour. :cautious: and we didn't even use GM credit. Not sure why it took so long, the truck was outside and waiting.

But, it was well worth the wait. The truck is beautiful, and is everything I hoped it would be. Finally got to meet the man that I negotiated with over email (President and owner of Metro Chevrolet).

Drove the truck home from the dealershio, my wife droped off our Mountaineer, and we headed out for a drive in the rain. Two hours, and a stop at a local autoparts store, later we came home. put my first mod (sort of) on the truck, little round convex mirrors. They are the first thing I put on all my cars.

Grabbed the owners manual out of the glove box, brought it in and thumbed through it. I was surprised that no video came with the truck. The last 3 cars that I have purchased have come with videos (heck, even my washer and dryer came with a video).

After reading through the owners manual, I grabbed a rag, and some meguires quick detailer, and proceed to get rid of the rust that the "detailers" missed. Personally, I have never trusted any car dealership with washing my cars, and for good reason.

Anyway, I think I will go get a blanket and sleep in the truck (J/K) ;D

Ok Spork_Av, Time for the pictures ;)

Hope you love yours as much as I do mine. The hardest part is keeping the other half happy when I keep getting toys for it. ;D

endeavorc

endeavorc, you sure are right about keeping the other half happy so we can buy mods. I just spent $11,600 on outside landscaping. Now the way I figure it, I can get lots of mods before she starts complaining. Only problem now I am broke. :-[

Congrats Spork.

I thought about sleeping in my AV when I first got it too.

I did go out and stare at it every hour. The people at work got tired of listen to me talk about it. But they haven't ever turned down a ride. ;)

nice work spork... ;D

i remember the first day i got my Av like it was yesterday. could not believe i bought it, and kept staring at it for hours (bought it late night), and the first chance that i got to see it in daylight was the most awe breath-taking moment i could never forget... ;)

**you could tell this was my first new vehicle ever...**

The sunset orange color is awesome. I need to find a good place to take a picture of it with the sun setting in the back ground. I like the color more and more every time I look at it.

Nice pics, Spork. Given all the apparent mods on that Vee Dub, certainly the precedent has been set to buy some toys for the Av. ;) Happy modding.

Well, the Dub ain't done yet, so it still has precedence over the AV. I figure this will be my last year showing the bug. Took home 2 best of class awards last year, with a bunch of 1st, 2nd and 3rds in it's class I need to do my last money mods to it, and then I will start with the AV.

Their is a charity car show coming up in April, and I figure I will take the NB and the AV to it, since the AV's are still new and not many people have seen them yet.

Funny reading this thread. I thought I was the only one that went out to my garage every hour to stare at my AV. My office has windows facing the parking lot and I try to get a spot where I can check on it several times a day.

Just gotta luv that AV!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on showing the VW. Couldn't tell the exent of the mods from the pics you posted (overshadowed by the new Av) :). Taking the Av to the show in April should at least spice things up a bit.

BTW, I miss Columbus a lot. Lived there 12 years ago, but still addicted to Rotolo's Pizza in Grandview Heights.
