Stainless Steel Brake Lines

What about an 03 avalanche?
That post was from 7 or so years ago. Ifyou want an OEM kit, you really should go and see your dealer. The parts for my 2500 were about $180 IIRC. (id rather have the dealer warranty) But if you're doing it yourself or want someone else to do it, you can go with a dorman kit. ($63 for the same kit right now on sale. )

Looking at rock auto, they have both the dorman 919150 W/o RPO JL4 ($69) and 919149 w/ JL4 kits ($92) for the 1500. Look in your glovebox, on the sticker and see if it has that code listed. They only carry bits and pieces of the parts separately and dont have other kits. So it is kind of a one or the other sort of deal.

I know this is an old thread...

I went with stoptech ss lines for my 07 avy and while at the dealership had them installed but with issues..

The tech said he couldn't install the rear lines as he states that the line threading wasnt properly machined right and didn't want to cross thread the oem lines so I'll need some replacements...

What's the best way/kit to bleed these brakes as a DIY job ?? Would like to save some money and install the rear lines myself and not go back to the dealership to give them more money for this job...

Yeah, if you were going the dealer route you really should have just had them install an OEM kit at that point. They're not terribly expensive all things considered and they would have warranties.

If your rear lines really are screwed up, id say you should get into contact with their manufacturer and get them replaced. That would be the cheapest route. Beyond that, you can try to source those lines from rock auto or the dealer themselves. Use their online parts website for better pricing.

You can find videos, such as this one:
on how to change/ bleed brake fluid after the fact.

Thanks for the reply. The tech stated the rear SS lines threading were off slightly but the fronts went on fine so he bled and flushed the lines with fresh fluid. I can definelty feel the pedal difference with just the fronts SS lines install but want a complete kit done.

Im a DIYer and would like to put the rears on myself to learn and save some money in the long run. Doesn't seem that difficult to do with the right tools and a little bit of time as im only doing the rear SS lines.

I see alot of folks using the "Motive Bleeder" for a single person job which is what im leaning towards. Any suggestions ?
Thanks again

I know one member had the same problem with the wrong fitting on the rear line, I guess you could cut off the flaring put the correct fitting on and reflare the line. But SS lines are hard to flare.

Thank you....I've returned the stoptechs rear lines ..Will have to look at maybe Russell's for thr rear ones

After talking to Stoptech I was informed that they don't make rear SS lines for my 07 Avy due to the fact that I have the 275C5 casting number on my rear calipers and they only make SS lines for the 285 series calipers..

Has anyone else ran into this issue ? Does anyone make SS lines for my casting number ? I can't get russell performance on the phone to save my life ...

Thanks guys

I guess the worst case scenario is that you'd wind up needing to replace the calipers if they truly are that hard to shop for. Which realistically isn't a big deal if you're doing the lines, it's just added cost. But if it's what you've got to do..

I'd go to a dealer with your Vin number. Check to see if they have them then cross search the part number for aftermarket solutions if available. Seeing as gm supposedly is producing replacement lines after the lawsuit, it shouldn't be an issue unless it's a really uncommon alternate cast. Then I'd say you'd have to resort to the caliper replacement again.

Yes I definitely don't wanna go that route with caliper swapping...I will definitely try the dealership route to see what they say since russell doesn't like to return calls or answer the phone..lol

Thank you

Try inline tube. I got the rear axle brake lines from them and they worked perfectly. They are the only place I could find that actually carried those lines. https://www.inlinetube.com/

Thanks !!! Did u have to use another model other than an avy to get the right ones...?

Thanks sir!!! I have an 07 avy..will these still work ?
That I don't know. I'd do to their website and put in year, make and model.

Edit: I don't see 2007 Avalanche listed. I'd give them a call and ask. I would think Suburban would work but that's not a guarantee.

Finally was able to get under the truck to find the rear Caliper number which can help now to source some rear lines..

07 chevy avalanche ltz
Caliper casting # k244-093c
Caliper mount # 275c2

Do You guys know anybody who makes the rear ss lines for this Caliper number?
I can always do a vehicle search but they never show a compatibility with the oem Caliper number

I did the new master cylinder and rear SS lines Stop Tech 950.66500, and that went fine. Got the wrong kit for the fronts and I believe it should be 950.66001. The rears were fine thread going into the caliper housing. Are the fronts course thread? trying not to buy the wrong ones again.
