Starter issue 2007

I have an 07 avalanche I put new starter on and still having issues with the starter engaging after it started how do I fix it

Can you be a bit more descriptive with issue?

starter drive grinds? or does not pop out?
or engages fine but does not spin motor

The starter doesn't grind so I don't think it needs shims ,when it's cooled off it will start normal but let it get hot after the truck been driven and yoy shut off the engine and restart it that's when it acting up I replaced the starter relay fuse but that didn't help al it will do is act like it starts but the start won't disengage after it starts I have to turn the key off a few times before it will start normal

so problem is starter will not disengage sometimes?

On your truck starter controlled by ECM.
Turnging key tells computer to start engine - it checks things and then will send power to starter to crank engine.
After a certain amount of time it removes power.

Did you have this same issue with old starter?
as it my not be starter that is problem.

Any check engine light?
