steering stabilizer

I would a hazard a guess that the inline force of the steering stabilizer has limited impact on the strain on the PS system.  Since they are easy to push slow, they probably extend the life of the box by absorbing impacts that other wise would be transferred directly to the box.

That being said with stock tires, the small one is probably adequate, but for the price, the Rancho one works well, and if you are running a more agressive/wider/taller then stock tire, its probably resonable.

I would stay away from the dual and triple BS.   As far as driving off-road, I don't think there is an advantage to any of them.  I never ran one as i was always smashing them on rocks.  No real difference until you get back on the pavement.  Now on my wheeling truck I run hydro assist, but with 42"s, that is almost a requirement.

Well my Factory one is now installed, and I must say I love it, a little more road feel, and slightly stiffer steering, but on the bumps I get much less feedback, Well I was at it I changed my PS cooler which the hoses were leaking a little too, I HATE leaks......

I just finished installing the Rancho 5411 kit on my 2500.  I have one question...  When I installed the double ended bolt from the shock to the steering component, I noticed it did not fit in the steering hold fully.  The bolt sleeve decreases in size.  Do you just push it in as far as you can and bolt it on?  That is what I ended up doing as I couldn't get it in any farther.  There was plenty of bolt to put the nut on but, wanted to double check with others that have installed it.

Thanks,
Todd

If I recall correctly, yes, but make sure you torque it down all the way.

Bump, sorry someone wanted to see this.

Well, it is done.  What a super easy mod...with big impact on the performance.  Steering is tight yet smooth.

I went with the Rancho due to ease of install.  The MOOG is a monster and would be awesome if I had some big honking tires.

Scratch this off the list and get back to the AvPowerLocks.

I just keep adding things to my "mod" list... this looks like a good one.  (y)

Just ordered me the Rancho RS5411 kit from Amazon.  Really should have done it sooner but oh well.  Will follow up next week with review  :B:

Awesome  (y)

We folks will like this mod, to me the steering in a 2500 is just too light.

For the price, it's a cheap, simple mod that seems to make the truck steer a bit better.  I have this and the Cognito braces and no other steering repairs or replacements (other than an alignment when I slid into a curb at 15 o 20 mph on ice) for 140k miles.

Almost forgot!  This mod is awesome..  My kit also did not come with one bolt, but that was nothing Lowes couldn't fix.  Once all tightened up the truck just feels more stable.  So if you haven't done it yet and you read this... DO IT

Love mine just got done doing whole front end on my avy last weekend. Did all moog and got the oem rancho steering stabilizer off rock auto bolted right up no clamps. Man no more shake at 80 on freeway. And steering nice and rigid no play. Highly recommend  (y)

Sorry to bring up a older topic, but I have to do it. I just put on my Stabilizer WOW what a difference, no wonder and precise steering.

Well since this is a 2500  mod I finally got around to changing my old Rancho stabilizer out for a Bilstein 5100 today and it was absolute toast. So you folks that have added a stabilizer may want to check yours 7 years is a wee bit too long.

Hows the bilstein. Is it better than the rancho.i have a 2006 2500 and i want to install one .it never came with one. Does it affect steering radius

Did mine last weekend.  Grabbed a 2" and 3" bolt from Home Depot, they didn't have 2.5"  The 2" was to short and had thread that would have gotten all screwed up, the 3" fit without any clearance issues and was only threaded about half way up so it was perfect.
