Hello,

I have had my Av for a little less than a week and I have a question.

Does the steering wheel lock? ?I can't get mine to lock. ?I traded a 2000 Silverado and I always locked the wheel.

Thanks,
Mark

EDIT: Made title more descriptive

When you take the key out and turn the wheel a bit it should lock....Heck i do not know of a vehicle that does not lock the wheel.....

I agree, and all of the vehicles that I have owned have allowed me to lock the wheel....up until this point.

Try turning the wheel a bit more?

Or maybe the locking thingy is broken?

Play with it some more .... ?I will test mine later again...also check the online manual to see what it says.

I moved it so it would get more attention in case others have this problem.

The steering wheel will not lock. The locking feature was removed. I can't remember if it was 01 or 02, but either way the steering wheel will not lock.

Ok I had to go see as I thought the wheel locked....Darn if I did not look like a goof in the driveway.....

the darn thing does not lock but the shifter will not move that is for sure...even with my foot on the brake....

I learnt sumting today..... :2:

I was amazed to discover that when I got my Av... with a history of GM vehicles I thought they would always do that! Anyway, I suppose it has to do with the advancment of other theft deterents that they didn't feel it was required any longer. hmmm.

I think it was the fact it never really worked that well.

Once you crack the column all you have to do is to turn the steering wheel real hard and the steering lock would break.

Speaking of locks, does anyone know where I can get a "Truck Club"? I see the regular size one but my red truck club went with my C1500 when I sold it.

When I first bought my AV, I called the dealer to have them check the other AV's on the lot. I thought my steering lock was broken until I found out that none of the AV's had a locking steering wheel. I also noticed that the igniton lock doesn't have the tabs on it any more. Just a bigger key to turn the ignition on. :B:
