Stereo stays on after doors opened sometimes

Sometimes when I get out of my truck the stereo stays on even after I ahve removed the keys and opened the door. I have an Alpine deck hooked up through a GM Data-bus adapter (from Crutchfield - I forgot the brand) so that my RAP would still function. To turn off the deck when this happens I have to put the key back in the ignition and turn it to aux and then back off. It happens rarely but it is annoying nonetheless. Has anyone else had this problem? Thoughts? Thanks.

Not the exact problem, but I have a similar problem. My new headunit will intermittently turn on and off after the key is removed and after the door is opened. I think it has to do with the 10 minute interval when the power is supposed to stay on until the door opens after the key is removed, but for some reason doesn't work right. Mine does it every time though. I may have wired something wrong, but I don't think so since I used a scosche relocation wiring harness. Fairly easy wiring.
It stops after 10 minutes though. I just turn the stereo off before I get out so I don't blow a fuse or worse.

Anyone have any ideas? ???

Yes!

I have a similar problem. although I am not too sure of
what the internal wiring is. I had a shop do the dirty work.

I will stop my Av and get out and sometimes when I open
my door it will stop other times it won't. When it doesn't
usually it will in like 5-10 seconds. Once I closed and locked
my door and my H/u was still on! I've never had to insert
my key again though, like Zuhl.

I also have an aftermarket h/u it is an Alpine 9813.

Any ideas?

Aetatis.

Strange. I have the Alpine 9815. They are basically the same unit. They have the same manual in fact. I wonder if it is completely conincidental that we both have this probelm with these particualar Alpine decks. I do not see how the type of deck could effect it, but that IS wierd.

BTW, how did you hook up your dimmer lights? I could not figure out how to do it. The damn data-bus adapter did not have a pin for that one.

no need to get worked up about for it does it on factory HUs as well. Mine has done it 5 or 6 time , but since I chanced the HU to the UM8 I has not happened. I might be in the body contorl module which controls the on off. If you are using a module to keep the onstar or amp this could be why it is doing it. Reprograming the body control module might fix it.

Zuhl: I didn't hook up this stereo myself.

I don't know how they did hook up the
dimmers but they work along with the door
chime which is hooked up to the driverside front
speaker.

I have no idea what causes this. Wish I knew.

Hey, Pbuilder, what exactly is the UM8? It looks pretty cool. Is that a GM/delco product or is it aftermarket. I did not know double DIN units would fit.

According to friend at Circuit City (I used to work their) it is a problem with the aftermarket wiring harness. No big deal, just stick the key back in turn to "on" then back off and it should turn off the deck.
