Hey STI fans,
I recorded a mess of digital video this past weekend.
I will be compiling it into a DVD video, which will be available for purchase.
keep in mind that this is a long, slow process, so it could take 4-8 weeks for me to finish it.
When finished, I will send David a sample to put up on the STI site for everyone to preview.

Now, my next point:
If you, or someone you know, also shot DIGITAL video at STI, Please let me know.
I would like more footage to include for someone elses perspective.
I don't have a mini Digital camcorder, but can get one.
Contact me ASAP if you are one of those DIGITAL video recording folks.
More info on prices, delivery times, etc... will be posted here soon.
Thanks.

Rob

Go ahead and sign me up for one. I've got some Hi-8 video but I don't know if that will work.

Is it going to be a VCD or a real DVD w/ menus and everything?

Charlie,
I havn't decided on format yet. Still too sleepy to think.
I might make it a true DVD so I can include a photo section, and make it nicer. We'll see.
I don't have the analog board in my computer to convert it to digital, but I may buy one soon. If so, I can accept analog video (8mm and Hi-8 formats).
Until then, let's stick to digital format.
I'll let you know.

BTW, I got a call from Sam Berstein at Family Dollar while at STI.
He has a job opportunity I need to look into.
Lunch sometime this week maybe.
let me know.

I have an analog converter in my pc ala TV tuner. So I could make it into digital video.

As a matter of fact I talked to Sam today. He is a really cool guy. That is in the advertising department isn't it? I think they are looking for a MAC person right now but i'm not really sure. Good luck. (y)

Yeah I'm avaliable for lunch this week.

Tell Lauren "crazy charlie" says hi.

Cool Charlie,
Convert it to digital with the following specs:
720 x 480 (3:2) NTSC format
Quicktime would be cool.

Let's do a test first to be sure that we are speaking the same languages.
Do a small video file with the above specs.
Email it to me (just keep it around 3-5 megs).
If it works out o.k., can you burn everything to a CD?
Call me if you need to discuss details.
Thanks

Rob

OK, who smited the Tinman? This obviously had to be a mistake. Fess up. :)

back on topic, I don't suppose you shot it all 16:9 did you?

IMHO go with a true DVD. One that can be played in AV's with built in DVD players. Would be a great club recruiting tool.

This is an internet club, those that want pictures can visit the web to get 'em, I don't think they need to be on DVD also.

Unfortunately I don't think DVD players can play MOV files. Every VCD that I have ever made has been in mpeg format or was it avi? I will get right on getting the tapes converted.

Charlie

It will be true DVD.
I'm working on it now.
The pictures will be part of the DVD I guess, in that they will be a slideshow-type of portion in the movie.
Depend on how much video I end up with.
Usually, in production, about 1 hour of tape translates to about 5 minutes worth of usable video.

Let me know when you have a sample file ready Charlie.
Thanks.

There are a few DVD players that will play the MOV format.
But, very few. Most are newer or higher end models.
I can export/save/burn in probably 25 different formats. So reading shouldn't be an issue.

I'm definitely in!

I thought about this after the ECRs, but never really got around to it. Plus, my camera is a still camera with video as a secondary feature, so it's not the best quality video. And, I'm limited to 3:00 clips...

I've got some Hi-8 video too. But probably same as all the rest. General shots of lined up and stuff. and a little bit at the Hummer track.

But I'll want one of those videos!

Mud!

David,
Actually, that video clip is me driving, with Les and his son, Andrew, in the front seat.
Had to show that a Z66 can do anything a Z71 can do (kidding).

Darn, so it is, my bad. I'll fix. :)

Just to wet your appetite a bit, I thought that I would give you guys a small taste of what the STI video/DVD will look like.
The video opens to AC-DC's Hell's Bells, and shows fades of the donuts at the hummer track, with opening titles between clips.
A.J., LRNerd and MudBug are the opening clips, with MudBug's video clip running in slow motion (VERY COOL).
I will email a clip to David to post up on the STI website in the morning. I'm still working on placement of all the video, including footage from EarthQuake, LRNerd (do you have the CD's yet Charlie?), and myself.
There will be a variety of soundtracks playing for the video, including AC-DC, SoggyBottom Boys (from the soundtrack for O Brother-Where Art Thou), Devil Went Down To Georgia, and a few other hits.
Just wanted to wet your appetite, and get you excited about seeing the video clip on David's STI Site (thanks David for giving us this outlet).
Stay tuned.
I will post more movie clips as I finish them.

You won't be disappointed.

Yep I got them. Let me know how to get them to you.
Heard anything else about the job?

Charlie

Hoss,
No problem.
Working on it today.
I might have it finished next week.
I'll let everybody know when it's finished.

David is going to place a sample of it on the STI website shortly. Check it out (it's about 14mb, so itmay take a while to download).
