I plan on bringing my dual line kites to STI. Anybody else fly?

Great idea Shayne - love kites myself tho I don't have one, and bet the kids would get a kick out of it too, even if just watching.

Mind if I ask if those are very expensive - might pick some up myself!

spacegator,

Try looking at this web site: www.intothewind.com

They have a great selection and give you prices.

Dual line kites vary in price. I like Prism kites. The stack ( 5 kite train ) is expensive. My Hyperkite is an antique, it was $150 back in the day, just for the kite. Another $40 for the lines ( 200 lb. test ) and I fly that with 150' of line. The Hyperkite has an 8' wing span and pulls like a mule. Prices for quality kites have come way down since then. I have a Prism Adrenaline with a 5' wing span that's lightning fast and not good for a beginner. A good starter kite would be around 6' wing span. Check around your area for any kite shops. This time of year they're getting rid of them for cheap. I'm partial to Prism kites because of the quality and they're setup ready to fly out of the box. Dual lines have bridles the lines attach to. If they're not right, the kite won't perform correctly. I'll be glad to teach anyone ( try to teach ) that wants to learn how to fly 'em.

Spacegator,

Ebay has alot of Prism kites ( just do a search on Prism kites ). If you find something, let me know and I'll try to help you decide on a good kite.

My daughter and I have been known to fly the little ones at the beach and back yard. It's fun till she plants it into the ground then gets mad because she can't make it go back and forth like daddy.

In Cali they used kites to go fishing. It was an awesome combo. Fly the kite while you wait for a bite. When the fish was on then you yanked your pole and it released itself from the kite. Always wanted to try it but never have.

If the wind is right, I can stall my kite over the water...bring some line, weights, hooks, and bait and I'll try to pull a fish out of the ocean for y'all. If not, lessons are still free.

My pleasure Vetman. Next year you're on your own !!! Thanks for all your help getting the wad of lines undone.
