Ok guys and Gals go ahead start laughing at me, I am luaghing at myself.

Here is the sorted story:

I installed the PowerAid TBS and FIPK. Everything went great, install was easy, no real mods anywhere, you know smooth.

Well yesterday after work I headed out to go MTN biking, beautiful day sun is shining, nice afternoon ride. Little did I know I had a time bomb waiting for me in my Filter. I was heading up a hill and I decided to give my Av a little gas to pass a car, and then suddenly, I start to sputter, and sputter, I quickly managed to get to the side of the road when suddenly all seemed well again. I carefully continued on my way until I got to the bottom of the hill when the whole engine came to a stop. I coasted to the side of the road to get out of harms way and had a puzzled quiry on my face.

I tried everything, restarting, nothing, rechecked all my connections, everything appeared fine, I was dead. I use OnStar to get a tow home, of course I was only 3 miles away, it took 2.5 hours for the truck, but that is another story.

I got home it is now 9:15 pm west coast time (this becomes important) and I scramble to the website to see if anyone else reported this problem, nope nothing there. In a frantic state, I email gandolphxx for help, well heck the man is up, he is in Texas, I am in Calif, he responded quickly with advice. Gandolphxx you rock. Of course the only problem was I reacted before he responded, I remember, hmmm, I can reset the engine, that might work, so I take the Negitive lead off let it sit and then reconnected. The Av started right up and I drove around the block and everything seemed fine great problem solved, nope.

I then read gandolphxx thoughts but I assumed all was ok at this point, so I called it a night.

Next morning, I fire the Av up everything is working, problem behind me, I got a mile from work when I had to hit the gas to avoid a person pulling out in front of me when suddenly I sputtered again, then the engine stalled.

Well to make this long story come to an end, I pulled the FIPK and investigated the TBS with a water bottle to see it I was sucking air, and that was not the problem, it all came down to a sticker indicating that the filter is not to be disposed of but cleaned and reuse was caught in the filter. When I hit the gas hard, it got sucked into the MAF screen cutting off air to the engine, the computer responds by killing the engine to protect it. After several minutes of just staring blankly, I got a flashlight looked into the filter and I saw my engine killer, a small sticker. The sticker now is sticking to the cold air box where it belonged in the first place.

Problem finally solved. Moral of the story, check the filter before installing. You never know where the people who box up these kits will place items like stickers.

Cheers,
dvc

Ahhh don't feel bad....I would be just to embarrassed to post some of the things I botched before... :-[ :)

Thanks for being willing to post this story! Indeed we've all done such things - and the ability to have a good laugh at one's trials and tribulations is an asset!

Yeah, don't feel bad, I have some whopper stories of my own involving doing an really extensive mod, the car not working quite right (or not at all) at some point afterwards, tearing the whole thing down, scratching my head, putting it back together (repeat) and then discovering that some disconnected little wire somewhere, some disconnected vacuum line somewhere, or even worse, some totaly unrelated part that coincidentally decided to stop working - all true.  I find these situations really help tune up my cussing abilities . . .

That really sucks. (he he)

All I can say is that thank god you did not remove the MAF screen as some people have talked about doing.

Good job on finding the problem.

My turn... I had just completed installing a suspension lift in my Grand Cherokee and had everything buttoned up and torqued to spec.'s and ready for realignment when I notice that I forgot to remove a 2" rubber spring spacer from the top of the left front coil!!! It was getting dark on a Sunday night, so out came Mr. Cordless Drill (and Ms. paddle bit), Mr. Sawsall, Mr. Hammer and Mrs. Chisel. It took about 45 minutes, but I finally got it busted apart enough to yank out (with Mr. Giant Pair of Channel-Locks).
