The Airbag cover on my steering wheel has gotten very sticky lately. Have tried several mild cleaners but no luck. Didn't want to damage with anything to harsh.

It's a 2011 (EXT) so age is a factor, just not sure how to get it clean. Anyone else have a similar issue?

what cleaners?

Try window cleaners, leather/plastic cleaners, goo gone lightly.

It is the plastic/vinyl part failing. or someone spilled a coke?

When done apply armor all like product the milky white liquid for interiors.

No, nobody spilled a coke. Have used some multi surface cleaners but once it dries its sticky again. Don't know if it's the surface coating breaking down or what...

Simple Green works for me, not sticky but dirty. Spray it on a rag then use the rag to clean it

Old thread but for those searching ... a detailer suggested I use Goof Off (on Amazon) and Awesome! ($Tree). This worked amazing! The Goof Off smells like straight up acetone or something - use caution. I got the can, just put some on corner of a microfiber rag (NOT cotton, it leaves lint!), and gently rubbed that airbag/horn surface. It melts the sticky right off, leaves the rag black. I used piece of paperboard (coke 12pack carton) to keep this stuff off the painted part (silver gray on mine). After I did whole piece, it still felt just a little funny. Then I used the Awesome! diluted 1:5 with water and wiped it down again lightly scrubbing. After it dried (60 seconds) it was just like any other plastic in truck. This detailer gave me this tip for free, so he's got my business!
