I know we have a bunch of folks coming in friday night and the sat morning schedule is pretty open. Is there any interest in a group cruise over to Stone Mountain for a look around, maybe a trip up to the top? I have NO (zip, zero, nada) clue how to get there from where we are, but I'd imagine its not too far and would be a fun cruise for us.

Please post here if you are going to be around sat morning, thinking we'd probably need to take off around 8-830am.

Thanks
Brian

Just verifying or checking on what the final cost will be ??? It looks to be close to $23.10pp?

From what I remember, you only pay that if you do stuff there(I may be wrong). I though you just paid to park, then per what you wanted to do additional. With the time constraints, I wouldn't think we would really have time to do that much, if anything while we are there ??? :2:

Very true...It is a small fee to enter the park and addtional price for the climb or other attractions.

yeah, I'm not sure, time will tell what we can/can't do but I'd probably be up for a ride to the top of the mountain. Definately not time for all the other stuff :(

I called Stone Mountain and while I didn't get a live person, I found out the following info:

$7.00 daily parking permit
$7.50 per person for individual attractions
$19.00 per person for unlimed day pass

Hours are 6:00 am - 12:00 midnight

Looks to me like the cost to enter should only be $7.00. If you plan to do any of the attractions (see website www.stonemountainpark.com) then you can pay as you go or get the day pass, but you don't have to get either of them to get in the park.

There is a road that winds around the mountain. We could caravan around the rock and toot horns and wave at all of the people we pass.

The walk up trail for the mountain is free. The cable car does require a ticket. There is a neat 1850's village in the park next to the lawn where the Laser Show happens. They have craftsmen doing time periode crafts, such as blacksmith and glass blowing. Also have a fun place the kids like, can not remember the name but it is a 3 story building with lots of foam weapons that they can fight with. Have cannons that launch foam rockets across the room, etc. Or so my son tells me.

Laser Show at night is pretty good to see. Also have a train ride that goes around the mountain. There are some Southern Plantation homes and mansions that have been moved to the park and setup as museums. There is a Paddle Wheel Boat Ride. A small water park, and more.

Save $2 on daily admission by putting in your zipcode and printing coupon. Just passing along what I saw on website.

yeah I'll be the point for it, I have NO CLUE how to get there, so trusting one of the locals will guide the way, but I'll be making some maps just in case.

I'll post some more specifics up in the next day or so on the actual cruise time table, etc....but the short version is the caravan is gonna leave at 830am. Once the time table has been posted, we'll stick to it. If folks are late, they can get a map and catch up. Dont mean to sound insensitive, but trust me sticking to the allocated time table is the best thing at a large GTG. Besides its not my week to keep anyone :p ;)
