Appreciate the information. Looks like Avalanche parts are much more expensive than I would have imagined. I might regret having bought it before I get all the little things repaired.
For the most part, a lot of the general parts that wear out and break on these trucks are no more expensive than your run of the mill GM truck.
When it comes to the more specialized parts, those parts may be more expensive and almost impossible to find new anymore.
The storage box components are going to be some of those that you may find expensive and difficult to source.
As mentioned above, I have had good luck finding used Avalanche and EXT parts of all sorts using the
Car-part.com website.
The hinges you are looking for should be the same for every model year of Avalanche or EXT.
What I have found using that site, is to do a broader search for general Avalanche parts and once you have located a potential donor truck, actually call the salvage yard and tell them exactly what parts you are looking for.
The salvage yards do not list every single part they have available, but often the part you need is just sitting there on one of their trucks waiting for someone to ask for it.
You may surprise yourself as to what you can find and how reasonable the prices are, even with shipping.
I found a complete passenger side running board with all of the mounting hardware shipped from across country for $125, including shipping.
You just need to do a little leg work and make some phone calls.
I have also seen plenty of these trucks being parted out on some of the many Avalanche and EXT Facebook group sites.
So, pretty much any part is available, but you just have to keep looking.
Try to not get discouraged.
