I just detailed my av for the first time and just like always it rained last night :E: I went out this morning and there were streaks were the ran had ran off the bed rails and cladding? I used regular armor all and was wondering if I used the wrong thing or if this would have happened no matter what I used? any suggestions?

You are going to run into that with about every product you use. I tried Mother's Back-to-Black, Armor All, and a few others. I finally got the sloution though. I took the AV back to the dealer and had them apply the Armor-Dillo on the bed rails and cargo covers. They will do this one time, free of charge. The difference was amazing. It has rained once since the application, and there is no difference in the appearnace and no steaking at all. Only took a few hours for the dealer to finish. I would highly reccomend it.

Check the threads in here on 303 and eagle 1 tire shine products....

The ones water based like 303 will tend to run when wet...as the water dissolves the stuff and runs it down the paint...what works sometimes is to buff with clean dry towel after applying the stuff.....

For me the Eagle 1 stuff works the best and does not run onto the paint...

Good luck and check some of the other threads in this detailing section....they may help or give you other tips

I've noticed the same thing and found that buffing after applying 303.works pretty well. Also Eagle 1 detailing wax in the spray bottle does a fantastic job of getting rid of the water spots after washing the AV in the sun. (Apply Eagle 1 detailer in the shade) Only takes about 1/2 hour to do the whole truck. Herb

ALL,
You know what I thought was weird one time was when I saw a friend of mine after washing her Jeep Chreokee... she was using Pledge of all things on the plastic fenders of her Jeep. I asked her what she was doing and she explained to me that her dad is a car sales man and one of the tips her dad had taught her was that the pledge had some things in it to keep looking like new... and a couple of days later I was lookin at the fenders and they still looked as if they came right off the dealer lot... mind you the Jeep was/is over 4 years old... and she was gettin it ready to trade in on a Jeep Liberty. Just another suggestion or food for thought... I don't really know how close in material our cladding is too her fenders, but I'd say try it on a small inconspicuos spot on your truck and check it out. I haven't done it yet considering my truck barely has 3000 miles on it.

Interesting thought JMEADOR. I probably won't try it until other members have done it though. I am pretty happy with the Eagle 1 solution.

Thanks for the info though.

Here in Oregon we know rain and rain and rain and .... well you know.

My product of choice is Stoners Trim Shine... just put it on with an applicator.... holds up pretty darn well... even wet ;D

pledge has silicone and oils in it...that cause the shine.....the oils and this type of silicone is not good in the long run.....as it will weaken the plasticers of the plastic
