I have seen a ton of people who have these installed on thier AV's and I wanted them, but was hesitant. ?Especially when it came to removing the factory Z66 decals..

If you are in the same boat JUST DO IT, IT IS SO EASY!! ;D :D ;D :D

In only 1.5 hours, I managed to install:

(2) C-Pillar Decals ?

(2) Z66 tri-color decals

(2) Visor decals

and painted the Lettering on my Cladding
with Testor's Enamel Paint Markers

I couldn't believe that I was done so quickly!!!

On my site you will find pics of the process that I did
Decal Install Pics and Procedure...

1 - Remove old Decals (if any) and mask of where they were if you want - this is a great way to make sure you keep everything straight) ?You may want to "saw" underneath the corner with a piece of paper to get under the corner...
2 - Thoroughly clean the surface (and remove all old residue) ?I used the Rapid Tac product from StreamlineDesign
3 - Mask on any futher positioning guides with masking tape if you want...
4 - Spray the surface with more Rapid Tac, and for larger graphics, you may wish to spray the back side of the decal.
5 - Position the decal in place, and the Squeegee the decal onto your AV. ?Make sure to force out as much Rapic Tac as you can.. ?
6 - Let this set for a while (seemed like to me, the full 90 mins for the visor decals, but only 30 min for the larger Z66 decals...) ?I would recommend the full 60-90 min before removing the top film
7 - clean up the surface!!

Great thanks B, Now you have me thinking, the info and pics look great.

Thanks, I didn't realize you could do it this way. The instructions don't mention anything about Rapid Tac, or any other kind of spray for installation. Looks a lot easier than trying to put them on dry. Kinda like the way they do tinting huh?

Brian, I showed your pics to my wife and she absolutely loved all three of your mods . She also has the SOM so I now know the color combos for her Avy (if you don't mind us copying your mod ;D). Could you provide the exact colors that you ordered from Streamline and Testors so I don't screw up the order (y).
Also....what are your thoughts for my black Z71 if I were to use the same (or another color) Testors pen on my cladding?? I have had the hardest time trying to decide a color scheme for both Avys and you have made it so much easier w/ your pics. Thanks!

Chris

also i saw something earlier about any type of sticker/decals would not stick to the cladding anyone had any problems with it.........thanks lee

I did the "Avalanche" on my tailgate in probably 10 - 15 minutes. I've since put a couple more coats on and it needs 1 or 2 more. The paint settles in the "valleys" and is a little thin on the the tops of the "nubbins". So it takes a few coats to get it looking smooth. Although from a distance it looks good with just one coat.

Gold Metallic Mountains
Bright Red Z
White 66

Gold Metallic 2x6.25 AV Mtns for the C-Pillar

and Testors so I don't screw up the order ?(y).
2544C Testors - Gold 1/3 Oz.

I think that the same colors would look great on a black AV, (guy named Jaime on the boards here, has this same setup, and I think that he would agree...)

Glad my pics could help!!!!

Yep... I saw the application tools on the Streamlinedesign's site, and I read about other people putting these on, so I tried it.. WORKED EXCELLENT..

Did the stock decal come off in one piece? Im considering this same mod for my truck....

YES, everything "Decal" that makes up the entire Z66 graphic or the Avalanche MTN lettering + Mountain itself are are all on one "topsheet", so positioning is VERY easy...

Just like This Picture

Good luck!

You can get cladding decals for AV here plus they have other cool graphics http://www.autotrimdesign.net/items.jsp?category=7324

Nice site, but I was very worried about decals on plastic... Some people have had problems with this.. PLUS, the entire face of the lettering isn't covered, it has to be slightly narrower to prevent edge peeling.. I did like some stuff on that site though... particulary the domed tailgate letters..

About 20 or 30 minutes for all three total.... I cleaned with some Testor's enamel thinner... then dried and then "sketched/filled" in the letters 1st coat looks good from a distance, up close, you need several coats... THEY MUST thoroughly dry between coats... so that it will re-coat, not just push around the previous coat..

thanks txyank1 and bmontini i may try this the next weekend that i am off and when it dries up and and no rain ..............................lee

I've had a little of this problem even when it's dry. Have to do a little dabbing as opposed to stroking.

Just installed my streamline design three color Z66 decals. Very easy mod! I went with black mountains red z and white 66. The application kit is a must.

Total mod cost with application kit and shipping: $42.50

I just have to say the Streamline Decals ROCK! I ordered them on a Thursday, they were here the next Monday. Full instructions, very easy to install. And they look SUPER! (See Attached)
Specifically, I am talking about the Tri-color, Z-71 decals. The website lets you pick any color combination you want. The only drawback is that you can't see what you pick. You just have to use your imagination.
So, I thought, "Go for Broke".... I got the chrome mountains, a red "Z" and a "Frosted" 71. Wow. I think they look hot on the black background.
Thanks Streamline. Very cool.

Come on everyone... If you installed SteamLineDesign fender decals on your Sunset Orange Metalic Avy, please post your pictures. I am trying to decide which color combo (tri-color) to order for wife's SOM Z71.

P.S. bmontini - if ya don't mind me saying, YOUR'S LOOK SWEET!

Cheers...

That looks awesome!
That combo you chose really gave it depth.

I've been thinking about their Decals for my next mod. You just pushed me over the edge. So that'll be my next whenever my mean wife will let me spend the money.

Here's one that she might like...

...of course I have to have one too ;D

No doubt my wife would like the "Her Avalanche" on ours.
But my wife really is pretty mean. Even if we did have two, she'd want the "Her Avalanche" on both!
