Stripeman Lettering

Yep. Mine came off of side doors after only 3 months; emailed Stripeman this weekend; waiting for reply.

I only had one letter start to peel on the rear during one of my high-pressure car wash outings. I patted it dry and stuck it back on. Since then, none of my 4-sets have ever loosened. That has been my favorite mod at this point as it really makes the name stand out.

However, the reflective tape mod looks EVEN BETTER! I am really having a hard time doing this one. Kevin aka stripeman has been great backing his product but the reflective mod looks one step cooler.

Oh the dilema >:D

Jamie

Great, that's all I need! :7:
I put mine on about a month and a half ago and haven't had a problem yet.
I had to cut it into 3 sections to install it though because it was a little too long.

I should have mentioned that I went with the 'Candy Apple Red' Av and 2500. I found the the E's and the 5's were too long.

My REFLECTIVE home made tape mods stick real well....they may come off if the surface had dirt, oil road grime etc on it......Try some clear fingernail polish or other thin glue to help them stick...heck paint the edges with clear coat touch up paint to hold them edges down.

HTH

JAMIE just buy some reflective tape at Wally World and play with it in a dark room with a flashlight or lighter...it is pretty cool...I am now thinking of cutting out more letters and applying them to the back of the rear window or some other neat place..... >:D

I too just put on my stripeman kit about a month ago. I haven't had any problems yet but I haven't taken through a high pressure wash since then yet either. I found by cutting them into 3 pieces made them easier to line up and maybe get a better bond to the cladding.

Does anyone know if Stripeman will make these in reflective? I emailed them to ask but I never got a reply.

Don't know about reflective. But for the record I have the Z-71 fade away style, have had them on for many months now, many washes, including some power washes, and not a curl or peel in sight :D

They used to offer reflective, but I don't know if they do now. My (often faulty) memory seems to remember that it used to be an extra cost choice on the "effect" drop down, but I don't see it now.

I know there was an issue where the reflective tape was thicker than the regular vinyl decals, which caused more risk of them getting snagged and pulled off while washing. Because of that, the reflective did not have the 1 year replacement warranty that the regular vinyl decals have.

If anyone knows for sure if StripeMan does or does not currently carry the reflective, please let us know.

SS,

you should know by now who the resident expert on reflective mods are.

I called Stripeman 6 weeks ago about reflective lettering--however I was asking about puting red reflective letters on the cut out "CAMARO" in the rear of my black beast. As you know, I really haven't planned on putting reflective decal on the CHEVROLET of my AV's tailgate but I asked Kevin anyway and yes--he offers them in reflective mode for about 30-35 bucks extra.

To Harley AV,

if you do put reflective Stripeman decals, please post a pic. If you go back the previous threads and posts, there was a member who actually cut out the letters himself and showed us a pic of it reflecting at night. It looked great, but I also worry about how it would look during the day. If it looks anything like Stripeman regular non reflective decals, then it should look very good.

Its ability to stay on after multiple power washes and 125 degree Arizona summers is another story however....

I saw those pics in the other thread. That is why I want to get some from Stripeman. I really liked the look but I do not know if I have the talent to cut them out myself. It seems to be very tedious and I do not know if I could do it to the perfection it needs to be.

Lightbg, did you just open this and print it and it is a perfect size?

HarleyAV,

Yep, that's right.....it didn't need to be resized. ;D
The only thing I had trouble with was the tape curling while trying to cut it.....so I scotch taped each letter to the reflective, then took my time cutting.......this way you might waste a bit more, but your accuracy will be perfect. ;D

One other item: During the day these look just like a painted mod - but they do come alive at night >:D

Hope this helps.

Jake

Lightbg, what brand of tape did you use? I bought some cheap stuff from Autozone and made some Harley bar and shields for inside my back steps, but they came off during the first wash. I am going to get some better tape from Galls next time.

HarleyAV,

I originally thought this was a 3M product, but now that I look on the backing (there never was a wrapper) it appears to have a triangular noodle-type logo and part of a word "FASIG(N)" (I'm guessing at the "N"). I got it at a Pearl Art Supply store ( one good thing about putting a kid through art school :D ), and the roll was about $6.00 for 30' give or take..........I've been hitting it pretty heavy with a truck wash brush due to all the road salt being used by the NJDOT, and just today one half of a "V" let go...... a little crazy glue snugged it right up again. I have plenty more for spares, and I saw someone put it on their bug shield......mine is plain, but the letters look exactly the same, so this could become a "Spring Mod...." >:D

Jake

Thanks for the info. I may order some from Galls and give it a try when it warms up. I think they sell the 3M.

If you are looking for letters for your Camaro, head over to http://www.reflectiveconcepts.com

He makes reflective lettering that really light up nicely at night. I had a set of his stickers on my GrandAm GT.

I am going to send him an e-mail to see if he can do something with the Avalanche.

I've had one letter that sarted peeling back, with just regular washing. :D: No pressure washer.

The thing I do not like about the lettering from Stripeman is the letters are smaller than the actual embossed letters on the cladding.

Vegas, will you let us know what you find out? I would like to try some reflective lettering myself.

My letters have started to fall off after only 1 month
and now I'm missing a piece of an "E" I'm very disappointed with the letters.

I didn't even get directions on application and could not locate them on the wed site either. I have glues several letters down on a few occassions
