3. a trailblazer........NO

thery give me a frickin caviler that smells like smoke that has been tried to be covered up with air freshner. yuck! cant wait to get my av back!!!!

Sounds familiar.....this is what I got as a ride for two weeks as my baby was being tended to.

Mighty Cav :E:

I've never gotten a courtesy vehicle with my AV.
They tried to give us a base model Malabu with the Mrs.' Tahoe. We bitched and moaned till they gave us a Trailblazer instead.

EDIT
Come to think of it . . . that was the only time we got a loaner. I've only ever had courtesy transportation twice. The first time was when I had to have the TB replaced on my old Silverado, they sent a cab that smelled like cabbage to pick me up at work and bring me to the dealership. The second time (AC problems, same vehicle) it was supposed to be in the shop for 3 days. They refused to give me a loaner/rental even though they were required to according to GM. I got several excuses depending on who I talked to: The service advisor - "We have a policy against giving out loaners". The service manager - "Yes it says that if your vehicle is in the shop for more than X hours that we're supposed to give you a loaner . . . but that based on the hours of labor listed in the book, not the actual amount of time in the shop while waiting for parts" The general manager: "Well, we can't give out loaners to people under 23 years old (I was 21 at the time)." So they stuck me in another cab. Since they didn't give me a loaner I would call the dealer and have them send a cab whenever I needed to go somewhere, especially since they said I was too young to to get a loaner!!! Oh yeah, this was the same dealer that gave us the TrailBlazer.
OK so that was a kinda long edit

I never seem to get a loaner from my dealer. I usually wind up waiting around until its done.
One time they rented me a Neon :9: when I had to leave it overnight.

Put ambers on it? >:D

I'm fortunate, my family has purchased from the same dealer for a number of years, so when we take a vehicle in for service, we just take whatever we want to from the Use lot for a "test drive"

I can't blame ya. I would have refused the cav. They can't prove you, your spouce, or kids aren't alergic to cigerette smoke...

I don't give people a hard time if they smoke. I just don't want a rental that smells of smoke. That goes for hotel rooms too.

If you don't say something, they can't change it.

You know this reminds me about an article I read a while back about things to try to get away with when you have a rental or loaner car (I think it was in Maxim.) Nothing permanently done to the car . . . just inconvenience them for inconveniencing you. You could:
Take the car mudding. Don't clean it before you return it.
Put a body bag in the trunk. Get them to help you move it to the back of the Av when you go to pick it up.
Fill the car with sex toys, leave some mysterious stains in the car. Again, ask for their help to move the stuff over.

One of my friends actually got away with this one when they had to replace the transfer case on his 2500HD (he got stuck with a 4-door Tracker): Go back to the dealer, tell them you need to haul some manure so you need a truck as a loaner. If they say no, threaten to haul it in the car. They loaned him an extended cab Silverado instead (he did have to promise to clean out the bed though)

ROTFLPIMP!!! Now that is some good stuff! I had a loaner car for a week and a half while they were fixing my mode door vent, and a short circuted window switch. They gave me the impalla!!! I drove it for 4 days and took it back. I told them I have a back condition which is one of the reasons I bought the Avalanche so I wouldn't have to keep bending down to get into a tiny little car. It's true I did have a back condition The dealership was on my for me take my truck that wasn't fixed so they wouldn't have to keep paying for the loaner! There was neck pain because they were being a pain in my neck. Enterprise was totally cool about it gave me a Suburban to drive around. And understanding about my pain. Though I wasn't as specific with them as I was here ;)

I took the wifes 04 Grand Prix (thing has radio hissing issues and other small things) and of the 2 times there they had to keep it for a few days. First time I got a 03 Silverado (YUCK, base 4x4 rides like crap compared to AV), and then the second time a new Chevy Aveo.... That pontiac dealer is really good though, I was to get the same Silverado but it got a flat on the way from enterprise to the dealer and I got stuck with the Aveo. I will have to rememeber the excuses above for next time.

I have gotten aloaner a couple times,.... all smelled like smoke. It is probably a used car that still has good tabs, so all they have to do is pay for fuel.

I have a loaner story. I got a 1996 Buick Century!!!! This thing couldn't roll down a hill fast enough to get out of it's own way. Luckly it was only for a few hours. I would have preferred the car I just traded which was a supercharged Bonneville. It was parked right next to this Pepe' mobile!! I'll never do that again. Like you said, you don't say anything to them, they think it's o.k.

I absolutely HATE IT when a car smells like smoke........and I'm a smoker!

I smoke in my Av and allow others to do the same but the windows are down and the A/C is on the fresh air setting, not recirc. If I ever start getting the faintest hint of cigarette smell in my truck, that will be the end of smoking in it.

From the perspective of a smoker, there are very few smells in this world worse than stale cigarette smoke. This is the same reason that I won't smoke in my house.

Joe

I agree with ya Joe. I am a smoker also. I have not smoked in my house since my wife and I moved out of our last apartment back in 1999. We washed the interior walls, her family owned the building and wanted to "clean" the place before we left, and we were :D:!! Since then we have not smoked in our houses. We have done the same in all our vehicles. Even with the windows down you still have the smell. At least we did. We had cloth seats. As a smoker I also feel that is the worst smell in cars, houses, on your clothes and hotels! One of these days I will quit. I keep tryin'!

For you smokers trying to quit: keep at it. I know it's tough - not from experience with cigarettes, but with snuff/chewing tabacco.

I never say I quit, I say I stopped because I'm a human and I am weak. I've "stopped" chewing for about 9 - 10 months now. (I'm 34, been dipping since I was about 14.5, have stopped 3 times, the longest being a year.) But at a recent campout, a couple guys had Copenhagen - my old poison. One even offered me a dip...it was hard, so hard, brother, to say "Nah."

Thing about dipping is that I can do it sitting at my desk at work. Even did it in a cleanroom environment! :p But I wasn't currently acustomed to not being able to spit, so that didn't last long. :9: In high school when you had to consume while sitting in class (not spit) you got used to it pretty quick.

Sorry for the long digression - back on topic:

I wonder if I can get a loaner when I take the Avy in to get several little things looked at...even though I work less than a mile from the dealership. :2: Been meaning to call to see if the new tailgate cables are in.
