;D This weekend while I was doing lawn work, I managed to bury my John Deere Lawn Tractor (to the axels)... It was kind of embarassing to have all the neighbors drive by watching me have to pull it out with the Av'.

That seems bass-ackwards! Better than having to have the Av pulled out by a tractor though. ;D

drive straight at 40 mph... into a creek 5 feet lower then my intree.... nose dive.. yup end of story.

I closed the garage door AS I was pulling out of the garage. Compact truck? I don't think so. The door made a really loud noise, so "Like a Rock," my Av got the best of the door!

Now that is something I would have liked to see a photo of!

Ouch, hopefully the garage door took all the damage - should be easier, cheaper to repair or replace. You do still have a roof rack?

Your story will make me even more careful when I am attempting the same maneuver.

Oh ya by the way Big Red did you ever get your fog lamps fixed? I don't think I have ever done any thing stupid with my AV....Oh ya I went up in the mountins and got a flat and could not get the spare down

Well it wasn't in an av, but I had my Z71 Silverado on a snow road and hooked into a corner too hard. ?Finished up with one front wheel over the edge and spinning in clear air above a 30 foot drop into a roadside ravine. ?The pucker factor sure was high that day! ?

Been there done that but on a snowmobile with both front ski's hanging over a dropoff.

Didn't buy it! :6: Had my eye on a Pewter '02 but hesitant about the Tan interior.....to late, gone. Then procrastinated some more until the rebates disappeared.

My wife is the regular driver of our Av. One day I noticed two huge white scratches above the front right fender. I started yelling at my wife for letting the truck get all scratched up.

We eventually figured out that a piece of the gutter downspout came detached from the house in a windstorm and landed on the Av right in the driveway. My wife had reattached the downspout without telling me, and it took awhile to put 1 + 1 together to = 2.

Boy did I feel stupid for yelling at my wife!

OK, OK, I finally have one. (like that is something to be proud of)

Went to a buddy's house two days ago. I pulled into the side of the driveway that has his boat parked in it. KNOWING that the trailer tongue was aimed at me I still managed to run into it. Bent the heck out of the license plate. :cautious: Luckily NO hole in the plastic.

Homer Simpson: "DOH!"

ummm - 2 weeks after getting the AV we had a wet snow that turned the roads icy in the foothills (where the mtns meet the city for the flat landers :) )

I decided to see what the AV could do - went up fine until it got colder and the snow was deeper. I learned about the need for weight in the back end during this trip (almost got stuck good).

Decided to drive back down the same road even though I saw cars getting stuck on the way up - short story some one pulled out in front of me on the icy part where cars were stuck and I slide the AV into an Audi.

My wife and I were doing some remodeling of our bathroom and took a load of sheetrock, carpeting, old tub and enclosure out to the dump. Figured it was only a short 10 mile drive to the dump and I didn't need to put a tarp over the junk in the truck. No problem, right!

Well since I had to open the mid-gate to get everything into the truck we were obviously open to the environment outside, including a lot of wind. Well, carpet fiber and dust from our stuff was blowing around all over the place...iincluding the inside of the truck. I also failed to see a speed bump until too late on the road in the dump site. The wife saw it and assumed I did too...ever hit a speed bump at 30 mph with a load of unsecured stuff in your truck? Needless to say the stuff went everywhere, but luckily landed in the bed of the truck...and the cab too unfortunately! :7:

Wife was PO'd for me not slowing down for the bump and I was po'd because it took me two hours to vacuum all that stuff out of the truck! :8: :8:

Note to self: Put tarp on next time stupid!!! :2:

Well I have two I think classify as dumb!
First - after launching my jetskis at a local lake, I was proceeding to park my AV and silly me didnt close the door, I figured just a few feet I can hold it while I drive........... Well when I went to turn into the parking space the door flew open and when I reached to grab it my foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal while my other foot slipped off the side step and I broke two toes. Thats not it, When I hit the gas, I ran OVER someone elses jetski trailer (empty thank god). it went under the front of my 5300lb AV, when I backed off, it was about 6" high. Pushed the Jeep towing it three feet and tore up the underside of the brushguard and bumper. There was a guy on a Gullwing across the way, he came up before the park police got there and commented "Man are you ok? Sorry to see it happened, but sure was fun to watch!" :cautious:

Second stupidest thing was not looking both ways three times before backing out of my driveway one day. I was about 2' out of the driveway when I felt a jolt, when I looked in my side view there was a car behind me, the (non-english speaking) woman had caught my trailer hitch and it ripped her back quarter panel open to the bumper. No damage to my AV, but the insurance co totalled out the 91 Cutlass.

Lets see:
AV 0
jetski trailer 1
91 cutlass 1

Man, I am sorry Dave, but that first one really DOES sound pretty fun to watch! :D

If it's any consolation, I cut 2 of my toes off (they're back on now) and broke 2 more when my suspension compressed over a large downhill jump (on my MX bike) and my left foot caught a tree stump... that stubborn stump never gave an inch either... selfish!

Seven

Hi,
Not what i did WITH my AV, but rather what I DID TO MY Av...
So,
a few months ago I just had to do the Full time DRL mod-
No sweat.... RIGHT :0:

So I am in the garage like 10 minutes before we ahve to go out! Never rush yourself (I learned this hard)
I do the mod- and while trying to Re Attach the = bat terminal- I did not put the shroud onto the fuse box area (folks there is a LOT of metal in there)
So, while ratch ratch ratcheting away-
my handle on said ratch-ratch-ratchet makes CONTACT with metal-
Shocking me, sending SPARKS :8: :8:

FLYING all over-
Needless to say I was stunned seeing the remake of the 1812 oveture going on under my hood.
So, I scream &^%!$@%#&*&!%#**!^&#((!^^%#*( and some other choice words as I grab a towel to break contact with the metal-
In the mean time (about 5 to 8 seconds,
My battery is MELTED,
acid is everywhere :8: :8: :8:
(luck I did not kill myself, av or the house)
The wrench or that so nice craftsman ratch-ratch ratchet was WELDED to the socket, and also to the Battery terminal!
Aghhh,
all is well. got a new battery and it now has higher CCA than the stack one-
My wife,
Smiley/SOm and some other will NEVER let me live this on down.

Be careful ya'all ;D

<Chuckles> almost as comical as when my dad tried to fix the toaster and everytime he would turn it on and off the lights would go on and off. Can you say stainless steel light switch.

Really interesting stories...mine is kind of brought on by my stupidity.....when I first got the Av...it was no secret that I had to practice doing the reverse thing....so I set up a bunch of my trash cans...to practice...kind of like what the DMV does for a driving test.....well....little did I know I seemed to have backed up the bad boy too far crushing the cans and spewing the trash all over the street.....(why not use empty can's you ask?) because I'm an idiot and that would have made more sense....should have seen the look on my wife's face...not good...LOL.... :B:
