Stupidest Thing You've Done With Your Av'

The stupidest thing I've ever done in a AV was test drive one thinking I would be able to leave the lot without buying one. ;D

Of course the 2nd stupidest thing I have done was make it from Conroe to Katy Mills Mall in 51 minutes. I was averaging about 85-90mph until I hit the dreaded I-10 traffic.

BTW...I forgot to mention...the trash cans were provided my the landlord....doh.. :-[

I do the mod- and while trying to Re Attach the = bat terminal- I did not put the shroud onto the fuse box area (folks there is a LOT of metal in there)
So, while ratch ratch ratcheting away-
my handle on said ratch-ratch-ratchet makes CONTACT with metal-
Shocking me, sending SPARKS :8: :8:

FLYING all over-
Needless to say I was stunned seeing the remake of the 1812 oveture going on under my hood.
So, I scream &^%!$@%#&*&!%#**!^&#((!^^%#*( and some other choice words as I grab a towel to break contact with the metal-
In the mean time (about 5 to 8 seconds,
My battery is MELTED,
acid is everywhere :8: :8: :8:
(luck I did not kill myself, av or the house)
The wrench or that so nice craftsman ratch-ratch ratchet was WELDED to the socket, and also to the Battery terminal! :eek: :eek: :eek:
Aghhh,
all is well. got a new battery and it now has higher CCA than the stack one-
My wife,
Smiley/SOm and some other will NEVER let me live this on down.

LOL...they were plastic...but still made quite a mess...not to mention they are not completely round anymore...LOL.. :B:

First - after launching my jetskis at a local lake, I was proceeding to park my AV and silly me didnt close the door, I figured just a few feet I can hold it while I drive........... Well when I went to turn into the parking space the door flew open and when I reached to grab it my foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal while my other foot slipped off the side step and I broke two toes. Thats not it, When I hit the gas, I ran OVER someone elses jetski trailer (empty thank god). it went under the front of my 5300lb AV, when I backed off, it was about 6" high. Pushed the Jeep towing it three feet and tore up the underside of the brushguard and bumper. There was a guy on a Gullwing across the way, he came up before the park police got there and commented "Man are you ok? Sorry to see it happened, but sure was fun to watch!" ?:cautious:

David, I was laughing out loud. But the pain hit me when you said that somebody saw it. Have you found a new place to launch that JetSki? >:D

I know that it is only a matter of time before I have a bonehead move of my own to add to this thread, but for now I find it amusing. If I can speak for my husband: "The Stupidest thing I've ever done with my AV was telling my wife it was hers!"
 
Hmmmmm . . . let's see . . . the stupidest thing I did with my Av . . . .OH YEAH! I was on my way home and I was trying to avoid someone so I'm driving and I see this person, I slam on the brake shifted to reverse and floor it, on my way back I spin the hell outta the steering wheel, tires screeched and I got my Av up on 3 wheels, a little faster and I would have gotten it up on 2. I left tire marks on the street and I'm never going to do that again.

I'm not sure I would have had the cojenes...to do something like that....I pray I never have to dodge a dear or anything on the road....I think I'm going to swallow my pride and just take it out....I've heard of to many stories where folks are put into quite a mess from trying to dodge.....of course a human being is different story all together.... :B:
 
Ya know Sands....those Craftsman tools come with a life time warrenty.....not sure I would want to explain what happened to it though. LOL :2:

Last month I packed up the Av for a family weekend trip out of state. Before we got on the interstate we went through the Burger King drive through window to get some lunch for the road. As I'm waiting in line, the guy behind me comes walking up and says that my tailgate was open, and asked if I wanted it closed. I told him to go ahead and slam it shut for me.

I was embarrassed, so I waited for this guy to leave before I pulled over in the BK lot and checked to see if anything had fallen out in the mile or so trip to get to BK. Sure enough, one of my daughter's winter coat was missing.

So I had to retrace my steps, driving through all the road in my neighborhood in search of the coat. I finally found it in the middle of a busy street. My daughter picked it up and then told me how there were black streaks all over the back. I guess people just run over clothes laying in the middle of the road!
 
I glued myself to my AV ;D No wait, that's the stupidest thing I've ever done to myself........

Let's see, I slammed the tail gate back up and left the left #3 panel lever out and snapped the glow in the dark end right off..........oops! :-[
 
Along with my stupid act....I had to replace the trash cans....so now it's costing me money..not good... :( :B:

You sure this happened? If you were doing any speed at all you would have stripped the rear end flat! I know because I once was teaching a GF to power shift in an automatic Chevelle! Well she missed drive went right inot reverse and boom smoother then a baby's bottom! Last time I try to teach a woman to powershift!

Coming back from the bar, we usually do some offroading >:D
Well I decided to take out this little sappling that stood about 5ft - Mistake... :-[

Got a nice scratch about 5" long on the side of my hood right above the fender. :6: :cry:

It's not through to the pain, more just a rub type scratch. Hopefully I can get somebody to use a buffer on it.

Ohh believe me, this little guy isn't going to live to be a pine tree >:D
I'm sure one night I'll have one too many and the guys will get me rilled up about the little scratch while we're off-roading...

If it should happen I will be sure to plant another another one to pay back mother nature ;D
 
:-[ the stupidest thing i did with my av was buy it!!!!!!!!
i went from a 3/4 ton dodge quad cab to the av. the av is a good suv for some one that would also like a truck, but not a good truck for some one that woud also like a suv. i should have kept my dodge or just got a 3/4 ton crew cab instead!!!!!!!!
 
while parking tonight i backed up in the space and the truck stopped. so i gave it gas. still did not move. gave it more gas. moved even less. when i got out i realized i had backed into a bush. i scratched the tail-light and tailgate. :8: i got it out with some wax though. very lucky! ;D

So you don't find that the Av is a valuable tool in both departments?....you could fit 5 grown adults comfortably and still have room for storage.... :B:

I dont think a car batt can kill you :) only hurt a lot.
